Jeremy

557 didn’t get good till the end in my opinion

BOLDcast

oh and "wapometal" we talked about that but i think we forgot to in the re-recording

Sanji Joestar

Nooo😭i was looking forward to 557 FRANKY SHOGUN

ViviMay

I'm sad 😭 But I do love the re-discussion 💖 its a win to me I guess.

Extra Crispy

Bro I can’t believe you guys lost 557 I was looking forward to that since forever 🤦🏾 😂. It’s all cool one piece has a lot of episodes; my disappointment will be soothed by the other like 150 episodes I’m also really looking forward too lol.

Sanji Joestar

I was looking forward to the Wapometal discussion 😭too bad

ViviMay

Me too 😭 Iron Pirate 🥲

Jeremy

Knew ya’ll would love that lol

idziman

It's okay, we can get through this! I'll consider us even in exchange for the fabled cover stories reaction 🙏

Sanji Joestar

NOOO Gust Sword and Horn Point😮‍💨

BOLDcast

yeah it sucks cause surume literally made lindsay cry, and we had franky with the good hair, and chopper horn point, and luffy taking on Shanks' role in marineford here in FMI

Sanji Joestar

Luffy's love for beetles is infectious lol

Sanji Joestar

It's okay We'll survive Glad to know you enjoyed it tho

Jeremy

Did wanna see the reaction to chopper’s horn boost lol

Terrance Matthews

@BOLDcast who told you he’s not actually turning that? He is actually turning his hand black.

charlie

My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined

BOLDcast

Like a million comments here on patreon said its just visual for the watchers

100Rainy

Dang yeah that sucks, but hey it happens. Nice to hear you liked the previous episode though. Loved seeing a lot of the crew finally flex some new moves, as well as the triumphant return of Franky's glorious pompadour.

Terrance Matthews

@BOLDcast I think you misunderstood, the reason why Oda came up with the black was so people can know when Haki was being used but in story his arm is actually turning black.

JJ

Tbhx 7 soon?

Terrance Matthews

@Chris Shadow google search ai isn’t always accurate and bro they mention the black in story in the future so what are you talking about and the 2 main wikis don’t say that it’s just visual for the viewers

100Rainy

Armament Haki Hardening gives a black coating to wherever the haki is applied. During their Kraken fight underwater some of the crew even mention how Luffy's attack looked different than 2 years ago, implying they too can see the change in color.

ChocoBoshi

Yeah I'm not sure where Terrance is getting the idea that it is definitely visible. The source of information that we have on it is Rayleigh, like Chris said, and he calls it "invisible armor". I have several head canon ideas for why it was invisible before and visible now, the most likely explanation is that it was to make it more clear for the viewer.

Sanji Joestar

@Terrance Matthews I think you're mistaken There's a scene when Luffy reveals his armament against the Kraken where Chopper and Usopp react saying his arm changed. That scene is anime only. In the manga no character mentions anything about a change. Plus Rayleigh described Armament Haki as an invisible armor protecting/reinforcing the user. And Characters who notice ppl use Armament are themselves either aware of its existence/how it works, or know how to use/feel it.

Sanji Joestar

According to what you know so far, the seas in the North Blue are also referred to as the northern seas And the North Blue is basically the equivalent of the northern hemisphere/north pole And same goes for the south blue for South. The world of One Piece is basically an inclined sphere with two perpendicular bands (Red Line and Grand Line, not the equator) with the North Pole/North Blue at the geographical '' top ''.

Terrance Matthews

Bro it is stated in a podcast that in story the reason we didn’t see it pre-time skip was because our main characters couldn’t sense Haki yet plus the mentioning of the black later in the story

Sanji Joestar

@Terrence Mathews Your Comment is into spoiler territory. Especially in a different branch of the topic that's not even cleared out yet. So please remove your comment

Albanese

Noooo. I bet it was a cool reaction as well. After more than 500 episodes it was meant to happen sooner or later. Keep it up, you're great. And as someone else suggested if you feel bad you could make up for it by reacting to the cover stories or episode zero. 😉 That would be really cool ♥️

100Rainy

@Sanji Joestar In that case that's my bad, the anime fooled me by adding that non-canon dialogue. It always seemed like indisputable proof that the black haki coating is indeed visible. I always wondered why it remained such a debate over whether haki hardening can be seen or not. Turns out it was an anime only scene all along. Sorry for speaking confidently about my misinterpretations. There is one other thing that gets brought up wayyy later which suggests it may still be visible after all, it's in the manga as well for sure. But at this point there's so much evidence against it that if there are any other canon instances of implied visible haki, it's more than likely some kind of strictly conditional circumstance behind it. Otherwise it appears that haki is in fact entirely invisible regardless of how it's usually depicted in both its anime and manga forms.

Mister Kap

My personal headcannon is that the black represents to us, what other Haki users feel with their 6th sense. Other haki users might not see it literally black, visually, but with their ability to feel Haki, it is a comparable medium. Because we follow the perspective of Luffy, we did not see this representation before he learned Haki, but now that he has, we can follow along with how he perceives/feels this sense through visual means.

@21:30 the disgust in Lindsay's face is so real im dying 😂 so appropriate

@Boldcast Hey I saw the schedule for the next Ranking Reactions Stream is up and its in a few hours. Ive tried to contact you on Patreon thru DMs and on other Channels the last few weeks, but I guess you haven't seen it. I created a tierlist on tiermaker for the Boldcast Ranking reactions streams and I've added names and respective season under every thumbnail to make it easier to identify for viewers. It was at the start indented for vierwers to have fun with their own rankings, but maybe y'all can also use it on stream as a secondary compliment to the physical tierlist. Please let me know If y'all want the link to the tierlist and if youre okay with me sharing the tierlist on the Boldcast discord, so everyone can make their own fun little reactions tierlists. Ive put a tiny amount of work into creating it, so it would be nice to at least know before the presumambly final ranking stream :) Thanks

Sanji Joestar

@100Rainy No problem Glad we agree. @Mister Kap i'm on a similar concept with you there !

Tony

Spoiler for those who want to know: It’s crazy how people want Haki to always be completely invisible so bad that they ignore that Oda showed the difference between basic Armament and Hardening during Luffy’s fight with Caesar where he punched him with basic (invisible) Armament and then specifically announced “Armament Hardening” and had black fists. There's also the Black Blades and the revelation that what Rayleigh showed Luffy was in fact the advanced version

Sanji Joestar

Perfect I was looking for one without spoilers, this is great visualization

Sanji Joestar

@Tony your argument right there is the main problem of this discussion. A lot of assumptions being thrown around incorrectly. But more importantly, the anime being very inconsistent which creates a lot of false narratives. Spoilers for the next arc: Chapter680(edit: instead of 681)ends with Luffy punching CC in the gut, you literally can't see his fist. Go check yourself. The punching starts again in Ch689 and here the fist is clearly Dark. In Ch690 he punched him again and the fist is again covered by a speech bubble. So either the anime confused you or you jumped to conclusions regarding that. Spoilers for the most recent arcs: You don't know what makes a black blade. And the fact a blade becomes definitely black through a process we don't know about (Since there's a clear difference between swords simply coated and swords that became actually black) You can't use a lack of information/answer as proof for something different. Please refrain from using a lack of informations or assumed facts as proof. It ends just confusing everyone.

Oshidi

3 arcs ahead and this one is still my favorite❤️👊

The SS Raw Hats🇩🇪 VS The New Fodderman Pirates🐟 continues

Oussama Essamadi

"Footage lost" new fear unlocked, genuinely lol. But honestly, loooved the way you guys recapped the reaction, it was oddly satisfying how you covered all the points. Luffy vs. Hordy is so disturbingly one sided it's not even funny lol. The mystical North Pole in the One Piece world, it's so intriguing to me I'm disappointed how fewer people actually discuss that place. My money is on that Oda specifically had Buggy and Shanks arguing about which is colder, the North or the South Pole in the flashback early East Blue saga.

Oussama Essamadi

Wapometal my beloved is eternaly lost 😭😭😭

Veritas

I don't really want to start another debate but the conclusion I've arrived at on whether Armament is visible can be simple. It is literally invisible to most everyone but can also be sensed by those who use Observation and/or Armament. We might as well call it visible in their case. Yes, I think the story being Luffy's POV also makes sense given that Marineford had people spamming invisible Armament attacks on Logias left and right.

Tony

@Sanji Joestar But I'm not talking about the anime here 🤦‍♂️ Spoiler Tag : What I said was that Oda has a clear cut picture of what is plain Hardening and what is armament hardening or Black Arms coating, iDK if I'm explaining myself good here🤷🏻‍♂️ The chapter you speak of is not 681 but in fact 680 which does end with Luffy punching Ceasar in the stomach where he spits blood Chapter 681 is the chapter that clearly shows the difference It the first panels of 681 you can clearly see Oda does not draw black coating as well as later on when he uses Jet pistol over 5 pages later In that same chapter which is 681 Oda highlights Luffy saying Armament Hardening when he was about to attack CC but Monet intervened and has him drawn with black coating You also said the punch continues in 689 and that the fist is clearly dark when that is so untrue to the point I'm now wondering if your serious? In 689 Luffy returned after being in the dumpster with someone and proceeded to use Elephant Gun which he highlights with black coating the same as prior in 681 In 690 he does hit CC with a haki punch that is clearly hidden by a speech bubble however that does not mean that all haki is invisible Like prior in 681, it could've been the basic application of armament So I definitely am not confused by the matter and the claims I made are indeed factual As for the Black Blades, nobody knows how they work, but that is not the point I was trying to make. The point is that the series calling them black blades and we see that armament can indeed be visibly black and that Mihawk himself speaks about how they are supposedly forged or made and Zoro indeed coats his arms with Black Coating should at the very least be considered in this discussion And to your last point, I'm am not the one who said this happened in this chapter only to discover that it indeed did not happen like you claimed So saying that I need to refrain from using information because I supposedly lack the proof for it to be factual is very hypocritical on your part

Sanji Joestar

@Tony Chapter 680 does end with the punch i mistyped the ch number. This is getting way too ridiculous and unregulated. If you wanna continue this conversation the Discord chat is right here for that. This is getting way out of hand and shouldn't continue unless it's in the discord chat where it won't bother Boldcast.

Ty

There are tons of parallels between this arc and arlong park but I just wanted to point out how classic luffy's fight felt this episode. Love me a good gum gum bell.

klairvoyage

@Tony It is absolutely not an in-world thing, just a stylistic choice (!) The confusion seems to stem from 2 points: - the anime adding padding of non-Haki users seeing armament coating - the black coating not always being depicted in the manga, even if armament must have been used The latter is not the case, because there is a difference between armament with black-coating and without, but because in certain cases it would look bad, so Oda has instead characters say they are using, or not even that and just have it be implied... especially later on, where the fight's dynamic basically demands for it to have been used. Just wanted to point this out, since idk if it was mentioned throughout all this.

Tony

@klairvoyage Black Coating could be a stylistic choice but that doesn't make sense as it contradicts future statements in universe from the Manga not the Anime I'm also a Mangaka or training to become one and we have to factor that Mangaka's get away with a lot of things. One of the most important rules for a long running series is simplicity Black Coating could definitely be the stylistic representation of when a character is using it and not actually be black Coating amd Oda does not need to draw it everytime. He already has established that it's somewhat invisible and he can use speech bubbles to hide it. But then the problem comes with him having statements that Black Coating is a thing I personally think its visible, why ? If Haki is the users willpower being manifested into reality then without a doubt them being able to Coating their body with black Armament should in fact be true

Oshidi

The message compared to the others actually hits me, the simplicity in story and the theme. Just personal preference. I only watched the anime, so maybe the pacing takes part? That doesn’t mean they aren’t incredible.
