Sanji Joestar

Luffy vs Monet is one of my favorite underrated fights for a reason It's just GOOD

Sanji Joestar

Law using the equivalent of a defibrillator on Vergo and he's still standing lol

The villain line up for this arc is very underrated for sure. Everyone is formidable and entertaining. HUGE upgrade from the last arc with Hody and his gang (although I get why it needed to be that way).

Aidos Smagulov

I hope when we catch up with ongoing — “ball ordeal” will be still with us :D

Oussama Essamadi

Vergo is manhandling Law, it really goes to show what the real power system of One Piece is. Haki over Devil Fruits, or so it seems as of this showing, but it remains to be seen what however Smoker vs. Vergo goes.

Matthew Gilroy

Monet and Caesar beat Luffy with Devil Fruits

Duffy the Nar Slayer

Yea, Smoker is at a big disadvantage. He still seems to rely heavily on his devil fruit, and as Pekoms from Big Mom's crew said, "Logia users who think they are invincible in the New World end up dying young." It was also stated to Koby after Marineford that all Vice Admirals and above use Haki, so he may be able to compensate by using Haki himself. But Smoker was just promoted sometime during the past two-year time skip. Vergo, it seems, has been a Vice Admiral for many years and is the head of the entire G5 unit, implying he's stronger and more experienced than Smoker.

takopi, orb, summer hikaru died, dandadan?

The way you guys powers scale is confusing. We get sanji confront vergo and it’s easy sanji win. We get smoker confronted vergo and it’s I don’t if he can win. By your logic it’s an easy sanji win vs smoker.

ideo

not the powerscaling police holy

Ty

Can someone point to where Carson said Sanji will easily beat Vergo? Lindsay "I dont know if sanji can beat him" Carson "Sanji can beat him, Sanji can beat him as long as he doesn't have a secret devil fruit, he might pull out a secret devil fruit and then it might get really hairy but... " Where do people get that Carson said Sanji is going to easily beat Vergo. The comments on this episode about smoker also take place after the fight where we get to see a bit of how strong Vergo actually is. Their opinions on how strong Vergo can change because they got to see him fight vs Sanji. Without hindsight how would you know Sanji wouldn't beat Vergo there? In another world this is the main fight setup and its not as if Oda is going to write Sanji losing his matchup for the arc. Also if Sanji is stronger than Vergo that does not necessarily mean he would beat smoker. Luffy beat Enel and I would say Enel is way stronger than Smoker. But Luffy was getting his ass beat vs smoker.

Monet’s DF is probably inspired by the yokai, Yuki-onna, which translates to ‘snow woman.’

tavuntu

I'm so hyped for the next one.

tavuntu

No need to go deep in power-scaling (not to mention it's kind of useless). The closest we have to that in One Piece are bounties, and even that is not set in stone, it's just a general guide Oda gave to us, not to take too seriously.

Matthew Gilroy

Ty I appreciate the dedication to the point, put pulling out the transcript is a bit much😂

Matthew Gilroy

"Situational"? No. In the 1st encounter with Caesar, Caesar straight up defeats Luffy and the entire cast that was there with his devil fruit ability. It's just a strong AF ability😂

Iris

Agree people are sleeping on Punk Hazard!! Great discussions, y’all are on a roll with your theories and analysis 🙌

Jack Shadow

Honestly, Luffy was able to destroy Monet, but he didn't want to beat a woman so badly, and this is why he didn't win in that battle. In the end, he even escaped, while he was able just to murder her.

Szonin

Monet is a really cool villain, also great to see two Logia-type enemies right at the start of the New World.

Robbie Medica

I feel like Luffy and Law have the wrong opponents. Law would've had an easier time than Luffy against Caesar and Luffy would've had an easier time against Vergo.

testlunch

I wish they would have seen the title of this episode, it’s so good lol Great episode. I’m loving these villains.

Artemis

Nothing has changed really, oda's fights are just always so creative and about the mechanics and elements, more so then the power and strength. It is a similar concept to like Crocodile and Eneru in past battles. Some of the fights in the new world deffinitly present these aspects even more prominantly though.

Artemis

As you get into the new world, you see a definite decrease of cannon fodder type enemies especially as like generals or captains of a crew, which is a good thing because Oda focuses more on key battles and significant encounters that serve to move the story forward instead of hinder it. Punk hazard deffinitly illustrates that change.

Artemis

It isn't just the direction of the anime and although it has seen major improvements over the last several hundred episodes, but really its oda's execution of the story itself. He's pacing things a bit better in my opinion and creating writing scenarios that are more complex, multi-layered and dynamic. I mean we are getting lore in dressrosa already, lots of subtle wano foreshadowing and many characters being more prominent in their respective roles. So, the writing flows better. Whoever said PH is the weakest arc needs to get their head examined.
