Fun fact: You have seen pudding back in fish man island. When Big mom was shown talking on the snail, you saw a three eyed women next to her.

Solas

Pedro is the Goat he knew it all along not to trust her

ednapls

Fun fact: When Pudding was shown way back in Fishman Island her third eye was visible. Not like it totally foreshadowed this happening but still interesting to note that she was clearly hiding something about herself this entire time.

Monkey D.offy Lucci

Pls tell me you watched the next ep immediately after watching this ep.

Oshidi

All according to Oda’s plan muah ha ha👹🕵️‍♀️

idziman

Fun fact: Pudding broke her foot for real when she kicked that helmet

Sanji Joestar

You guys first saw Pudding in episode 571. At the end of FMI. She was sitting next to Big Mom, with a weird blue jelly on her shoulder and you could see her third eye. Many fans immediately recognized her right after we saw her picture in Zou. So they knew something was going on with her they she didn't show us. Harder to guess that she was fooling us all but that's what made most sense when you recall what happened with the rendez-vous point in the Seducing Woods.

Sanji Joestar

I didn't realize I needed that episode more than this one lmao

Oussama Essamadi

I really love how the entire episode was in one setting, Pudding's room, and it did not feel spaced out at all, at least in my opinion.

Sanji Joestar

Zeff's last words to Sanji: '' Keep your feet dry ''. This scene is a direct parallel to the scene at the end of Baratie when all the cooks criticized Sanji's food to finally force him to leave. Even Zeff, who PUNCHED him btw. They all hurt him for his own good. When he stormed out, he later came back around the window listening to their true intent with that. He even whispered to himself '' I can hear you ''. Here Pudding is doing the same but opposite. Revealing her real intentions and this time too, here's Sanji, behind the window, listening cold and wet in the rain. All Zeff wanted was for him to stay safe and now he lost his salvation, his "Ray of Light" (Name of the Chapter)💔.

100Rainy

You really feel for Sanji here, he went through so much effort and turmoil to resolve this whole thing as cleanly as possible. Sacrificing himself meant Zeff stays alive as well as Luffy and the crew. He'd be trapped for the rest of his life caged up in hell, constantly reliving trauma with his shitty abusive family but at least everyone he cares about can survive and be free. His one silver lining in all this mess would be Pudding herself. If everything else in his life is doomed to totally suck, at least he'd have an amazing supportive wife to spend his days with. And then...well...this all happened. Absolutely betrayed, all his sacrifices meant nothing in the end, each of his loved ones are still in danger, and the one hope he thought he could fully trust and confide in just spent the last 25 minutes roasting his ass and wishing he was dead so she wouldn't have to keep pretending to like him anymore. I don't blame bro AT ALL for breaking down alone in the rain like he did.

Necm93

It's funny because nowadays one piece fans also mistakenly judge characters decisions without knowing the next chapter will add context to justify that previous decision

I_am_Knowledge

12:49 I actually appreciate that you went back cause you were unsure. Makes you appreciate everything that’s about to happen more

Szonin

This is like my Aot S2E6.

Artemis

This episode was actually titled "Moist Cigarette! The Night Before Sanji's Wedding!" The chapter this was based on 850-851. The anime adds a moment where Sanji wonders if Pudding is changing into her pajamas when he is first refused entry. This is not in the manga. TOIE tends to lean heavily into the sanji pervert steriotype which sort of undermines the emotional weight of Oda’s character work.

Artemis

One of the best things about this arc is how it explores Sanji's emotional vulnerability. When he’s forced into the marriage with Pudding, his excitement isn't just his usual 'simping' for a hot girl, it’s the desperate hope of finally being chosen. After being told his whole life he was an unlovable failure, the idea of someone actually wanting to marry him was a ray of hope he never thought he’d find. Once Oda reveals his backstory, you realize his 'pervert' persona is just a mask for his deep insecurities. This is the first time we see that mask totally shatter, revealing someone who is just incredibly human with a heart that can be broken very easly. I honestly didn't expect to get so emotional when I read these chapters initially. Seeing Sanji’s inner struggles made me appreciate him on a whole new level. From here on, even when he’s back to his usual simping, I’ll know that behind that facade is a man who was once truly broken and just deserves to feel that love and attention.

JOSHUA BOULDIN

The episode all sanji fans were waiting for! T^T I cry every time. 😭

Mister Kap

The going back to watch the old scene, followed by the current episode immediately playing the same scene again, was great comedic timing.

Skele

Fun fact: fun

testlunch

Wow... the last few moments of just silence while Sanji tries to light his cigarette... I felt like I understood why my mom loved all those soap operas growing up. That was so heavy. And with that music? Perfect. And then Carson with "the worst she can say is no" I was laughing while tearing up.

Matthew Gilroy

Welp. Zoro will never have a moment like this

Sanji Joestar

Yeah it's a good thing Zoro and Sanji are completely different and great characters.

Matthew Gilroy

They're not completely different. Zoro has power. Sanji has power and writing.

Sanji Joestar

Nope, Sanji wondering that IS in the manga. Toei doesn't help sometimes but not everything is their doing Just shows his flaws at times until Oda dials it up too much, which thankfully he hasn't done in a while.

Matthew Gilroy

Zoro used to have scenes like this. Of emotional vulnerability. Or will you cope on this point, downplaying Oda's previous work, just to defend his current?🤔

Jeremy

yup pudding is stupid lol

Leighton

I legit have to fast-forward every time that Luffy is trying to rip his arms, makes my entire body cringe

jahschwa

LOL can't wait for next episode. Gonna be amusing.

Wangus

Not stupid. Maybe overconfident. But she has her reasons to be.

BTImelesS

No spoilers, but doesn't the anime create a plot hole here? Or am I crazy?

BTImelesS

In general, Big Mom's children incompetence is a feature not a bug, Big Mom is so controlling that has made her children completely useless.

Krykee

No plot hole

Sanji Joestar

Unless it's spoiler related, what are you referring to?

Allain Gumapon

Does a character not getting any emotional vulnerability scenes necessarily mean bad writing? Does a character having emotional vulnerability scenes necessarily mean good writing? Or is good writing just good writing regardless of what is shown as long as it's, you know, good.

Edword

I think I know what you mean since I was wondering about it myself and watched a few ahead again to refresh my memory but I'm pretty sure there are no obvious plot whole.

BTImelesS

It is spoiler related so I'm just going to leave until the moment happens, maybe I'm just misremembering I haven't read Whole Cake for a while

fia

i hope that after one piece oda dedicates himself to writing mexican soap operas cuz he would cook

Blackest Hippy

you're confused. he said sanji has writing because that's something zoro lacks, writing in general. he never said good or bad. zoro won't have a scene like this because his character isn't about writing, at least not anymore. he's about badass moments and hype fights which is cool and fine but obviously sanji just excels in the writing department because oda fleshes him out by making him multilayered instead one note
