To this day, I have still not forgiven Nami for what happened to Kingbaum. She straight up enslaved and manipulated him, and then has the gall to feel guilty. It's fucked up, especially for someone on our own crew

Sanji Joestar

Jealous of you guys being at the '' what's gonna happen next '' stage of the arc

Sanji Joestar

Like they said it's like feeling bad for the guy in Jojo part 2, Kingbaum is part of Big Mom's organization, killing trespassers in the woods and blackmailing people into forced marriages where they get killed. In comparison to what they serve, Nami's actions were out of necessity to save someone from the BM pirates' threat. It'd be like blaming the crew and Bege for the wedding almost killing the BM family while they wanted to execute all of them for nefarious goals. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive, and yet she still felt guilty for stepping down that path.

Sanji Joestar

RIP Kingbaum You were a fun tree-ju

Sanji Joestar

Loving Pudding's development ♥️

idziman

Unfortunately, unlike that guy from Part 2, Kingbaum was brought into existence, and is therefore, completely incapable of disobeying her. It's a different situation. A more apt comparison would be like feeling bad for the police officer who Dio turns into a zombie in Part 1. They were completely fine running before and after they re-encounter Kingbaum, they didn't need to re-victimize him.

Sanji Joestar

The guy in part 2 is just an example. They clearly were not ''fine'' running before. Big Mom's army was right behind them and before we knew it Big Mom herself came flying. They knew what her army was like already, they got that treatment after the fight with Sanji and know they're coming. So the urgency was real. With Kingbaum they can use his control over the forest to clear the path instantly so they did need him. It wasn't just revictimization for the sake of torturing him. He outran Big mom and got pretty far in the forest. Just because he was made to do it doesn't change that he's part of Big Mom's and they had to do what they had to do.

Emperor’s are on another level. Kaido, Shanks, WB and Big Mom are crazy.

idziman

Does Kingbaum himself want to be a part of Big Mom's organization? Is he proud of the work he does because he genuinely likes it or because he was created with that express purpose and has known nothing else? If you ask me, he looked way happier being with Lady Tree than being the leader of the Seducing Woods, and I'm sure he would have preferred a life spent together with her. But now he's dead. A sapient being, capable of feeling pain, brought to life by the literal lifespan of another person, killed directly by the actions of someone on our crew.

Oussama Essamadi

Oda brough back Kingbaum just to demolish him a thousand times worse. Brutal. Luffy almost fulfilled his thriller Bark dream of having a talking tree on the crew.

The fact that for this arc, it’s still not clear how the conflict will resolve. Do we beat them all, do we narrowly escape, will Big mom pirates come back to the story, if we escape how? It’s refreshing. Very unclear like Sabaody and Marineford. I’m sure this arc will be one of your favourites.

Sanji Joestar

And she feels terrible that he died for it, but it's not her fault either that he exists in this system serving Big Mom. Someone too got their lifeforce taken to make him.

The saga of Wedding Cakey begins

Also, I like that Prometheus looks like a Cuphead final boss in his bloated pufferfish form

Solas

RIP King Baum you wonderful soul. Oda brought you back just to do you 10x worse brutal and Nami has some nerve feeling sad about it after enslaving him

idziman

True she's not the one who put him in this terrible position she just took full advantage of it, even to the point that Pedro, someone completely on her side, is taken aback by what she's willing to do.

Leighton

Big Mom’s area of effect attack distinguishes neither friend from food

Sanji Joestar

The thing is to consider it evil would require to ignore the context they're in. Aka Not safe, under pursuit by an army, deep in an emperor's territory (Bege even it'd take them a whole day to get out) and trying to escape with what they have and can do with what's available. As she mentioned earlier they don't even have the crew staff to come to fight. And even then she still felt terrible she had to do that. Whereas our pursuers wouldn't even care.

idziman

No, even in context it's still evil. If you remember, no Homie has actual free will despite having legitimate life, they're all enslaved. And yet, Nami used that enslavement to her advantage, basically using mind control, and it ultimately results in his death. If it's about doing whatever necessary to escape, then why did Sanji not leave the members of G-5 to their fate against Shinokuni? He even slowed down to make sure as many could survive as possible.

Matthew Gilroy

Luffy a few episodes ago: "After Kaido, your next Big Mom".

Szonin
