MY GOAT MJOSGARD IS BACK!! Proof that even the worst people can be rehabilitated

Drakojin

Now that begs the question Who settles trouble between celestial dragons?

Oussama Essamadi

I would not be surprised if the Celestial Dragons are too propagandized to death. Mjosgard is yet another example of a Celestial Dragon waking up aside from his relative, Homing, father of Doflamingo. And look, all you have to do is not to be a piece of shit and your jawline will grow, even cool facial hair and equally cool hair curls lol.

BTImelesS

I had to double check just in case, but the scene where Vivi stands in front of Charlos never happened. She does say "don't be hasty" and "let's overcome this together" (it's probably her) but her standing in front of Charlos with a protective stance is just unfathomable to me why it was put there. Totally misses the point of the story and it just never happened. Maybe Oda greenlit that I can't know that, but it just looks wrong. Also, why Toei chose to recap Water 7 instead of just putting the cover stories in these episodes I have no idea. I mean, probably greed, that's always the answer.

Artemis

I think its mainly because most of the staff were pre-occupied with wano. Thats my assumption anyways. We know the marketing of the next arc is just massive and they probably gave this arc to there lesser B team, which is unfortunate because it is an integral milestone of the story.

Josep Guilaña

I think, you guys missed that the 5 elders are celestial dragons, It was said in this episode

BTImelesS

I think it's more that it's the system of oppression that needs to be abolished, it's not about individuals being "inherently evil" or not. Even if one or two people can see the error of their ways, the system is what's actually broken and produces these monsters.

Terrance Matthews

@BOLDcast I disagree with that being the point of his character. I think the point is just another example of the Donquixote family having outliers from the rest of the Celestial Dragons

Sanji Joestar

Fun Fact the panel of Mjosgard destroying Charlos is drawn in the same angle as Luffy punching him in Sabaody.

Capitano

Thank you for the awesome double drop! The Empty Throne definitely was influenced by the Iron Throne. I'm kinda bummed that the anime splits these loredrops by having some extensive recap sections. The chapters felt so dense in the manga, but the anime doesn't have that sort of effect.

Sanji Joestar

I think Carson was the one who called this specific turn of events during fishman island. Otohime's actions changing people in the future even of she won't get to see it.

Matthew Gilroy

Greed isn't always the answer. Was the anime original musicals throughout Whole Cake greed? No. It was passion and a genuine desire to enhance the source material. Like Artemis said, the big dogs were probably just focused on Wano so the B team got Reverie

Matthew Gilroy

The Celestial Dragons were born into this. They don't know any better. I'd argue Garp is more of a dissapointment in my eyes, even moreso than the 5 elders. 5 elders are in the shadows. Garp is the main hero figure of the system the 5 elders have put in place. And he has chosen to maintain this disgusting image to represent a system where slavery, discrimantion and conflict exist. Acting all buddy-buddy with King Neptune, when the system he is the image for created tragic figures like Hody who represent hollow vessels of hatred. He's lucky Fisher Tiger was a good man and didn't kill Koala that day. The Fishman's hatred wrought by the system could easily have taken her young life. Fuck him

SomeoneElse

I love the design of the Empty Throne. It looks like the Grand Line with the World Government at the centre

Ty

Garp is currently molding the next generation of marines to take over. When they do they will lead with kindness and empathy, something most marines leaders lack. Garp going after the world government or trying to change things by himself is less useful than what he is currently doing. It’s his son’s role to dismantle the government, it’s his job to make sure the marines have a new future.

Matthew Gilroy

Otohime and Tiger didn't die for "Kinder marines to be born." That doesn't do shit. They may lead with more empathy and kindness, but the status quo will be maintained at the end of the day. "Marine = good. Pirate = Bad." And the 3 Great Powers will be maintained: Yonko, World Government and Marines. And so the fighting will continue amongst the lower people (non-Celestial Dragons), as well as the 3 Great Powers, just as the 5 elders want. As fighting amongst the masses, as well as the powerful groups, is how the people at the top remain in power. Garp trying to make kinder marines is still maintaining the status quo. Am I wrong? "It's his son's role to dismantle the government". Yeah, but Garp doesn't want that, or is at least conflicted. Just like how he was conflicted when the boy he swore to protect was on the executioner's platform. Ace surviving would have been the World Government and Marine's failure. Even if you're saying it's Dragon's "role" and not Garp's, Garp and Dragon lead two completely different lives. Why are you bringing up Dragon when trying to defend Garp? Literally the only thing they have in common is blood.

Matthew Gilroy

"Uwuu, my name is Garp🥴. And I'm maintaining the status quo the 5 elders have created, and allowing lives of masses to be ruined all around the world, including an ENTIRE Fishman race UWUUU🥴 to whom I'm acting friendly with, because it's my SON'S role to dismantle the World Government🥹🥴. I said it's HIS role DAMMIT, not mine🤬😠🥴. Uwu. You can't put any agency over my life or actions as the hero for the system, because it's my son's role to do something uwu🥴👍. And I had this mentality even BEFORE I had a son. Uwu. NO CAP ON GOD BRO🥴🙏🙏. I always knew my son would be the one to change things, even BEFORE he came out of my Wife's lovely womb.🤰👼🥴🥴" That's your argument Ty. At least the "roles" one you made💀

Francisco Palacios

There is also the fact that almost all of these recaps are from episodes that aired 5 to 15 years ago at the moment, so maybe they worried that people wouldn't remember or even have seen these moments.

hussam abdelalim

You can fix them; you only need a sympathetic, strong, super empath, relentless pacifist on the level of Otohime...... that is all, easy

Ty

What I am saying is Garp can not by himself dismantle the system so what are his options? He could quit and join the R.A but his son is already doing that. So another option is get the next generation ready. Even if the world government is not able to get abolished, having marines like Koby at the top are way better than the current admirals. What do you want Garp to do? Lets say he was to go rogue and rebel, what if that fails? Then you have given up all leverage on creating a better future. One of the things that makes Garp interesting is that he is a dog of the government but at the same time is installing actual change.

Matthew Gilroy

"Having Marines like Koby at the top are way better than the current admirals." No. Doesn't matter how many "good" marines there would be. The Celestial Dragons can do whatever they fucking want to whomever they fucking want. And when someone defies the Celestial Dragons the marines have to come. As high a position as an Admiral. That's the system. Garp's work to raise kinder Marines won't change the fundamental disgusting elements of the status quo. Do you understand that?

Ty

I think our perspectives on this are just too different. In my view Garp can do more good in the system, building better marines, then he could do outside the system. In my view having top officials act like Koby is a much bigger deal than you make. The system has to go, but if the system was to stay then you would want as many good marines as possible. If Garp could snap his fingers and get rid of the celestial dragons do you not think he would? Garps actions make complete sense to me. He is an old man who isn't in his prime anymore. He can't just go fix the whole system. He isn't smart enough to do so either. Please detail exactly what you want Garp to do.

Matthew Gilroy

For starters maybe warn King Neptune or give him and poor Shirashoshi and her brothers some advice on how to handle the Reverie held in the place that is the root cause of their terrible history and lives. Instead of acting buddy buddy with Neptune, laughing and eating crackers. He's the "hero" figure of the system that has caused all the bullshit the Fishmen had and continue to go through. The fishmen children don't deserve the lives they've lived. No acknowledgement from Garp is disgusting. Only thing he said in that entire escort was "I don't like Celestial Dragons" to Stelly.

Ty

Now you have genuinely lost me. What advice could Garp have given them to stop what happened? If Garp would have apologized completely there is no shot you would accept it. You would just get mad that he is still apart of the system and giving useless apologies. Once again what can Garp do about the system?

Matthew Gilroy

I'm not saying he should necessarily attempt to overthrow the insurmountable wall that the 5 elders have made with force. No. He can educate the people about the system through his travels. He can bring communities together and get them to spend time together. Just like Otohime did with Donquixote Mosgyard. He could be doing a lot of stuff outside of "overthrow" which is what you think I'm saying. Do you get me?

Adam Vialpando

Honestly, for once Matthew is kinda right. Look, I love Garp. Not only is he the best marine but in general is just a great dude. But he absolutely could have done so much better. Despite him being known as the most fervent marine, his constant inability to commit to either side of the line ultimately means he kind of just follows along with the system. He may complain about the rules and talk about how unfair they are, but ultimately he goes along with them. Not to say that everyone HAS to do everything they can to make changes like this. But I'm not going to give him kudos for not doing it. He is ironically one of the people in the best positions to make the kinds of necessary changes yet kinda doesn't. In a way, he lacks the drive and commitment and willpower of the very people he chases. People like Whitebeard and Roger and his own son.

BTImelesS

I have seen this in so many comments, analysis etc... I feel crazy every time someone talks about Garp. The debate is always if Garp is a "fraud" or if Garp is correct to try to change the system from within or something. It's so obvious to me that Garp is there to represent the hopelessness of trying to be ethical inside an unethical system. He's a tragic character. Both his previous proteges (one of them is a spoil so that's why I don't mention who) have turned against him. He had to watch his adopted son (kind of, he obviously sucks as a parental figure) die. He HATES his superiors and having to follow their orders so much that he stays a vice admiral. Garp is there to prove that you can be a "good guy" inside a rotten organization but in the end you'll end up supporting the tyranny. And yes. Garp could do shit to protect Shirahoshi or his friend Neptune if a Celestrial Dragon decided to enslave them. As he as done shit for all those who have been already enslaved by them. Or he could do shit to arrest the real criminals in Sabaody, he just laughed it off. Garp is neither a fraud nor a hero. He's a tragic character that most of us have to become at some point, when we work for example for a big cooperation etc... He might be "strong" but he's powerless.

Richie the Lion

Technically RA doesn't want to kill all Celestial Dragons. They want to strip them of power. Ofcourse those who will oppose may die in the fighting, but someone like Doffy parents, brother or Melzgard would surrender power.
