The legend of the Rat King begins

Sanji Joestar

BoldTheory Piece is back in business !!! LOVING the discussion!

Matthew Gilroy

Punk Hazard being terraformed for 2 years and counting was an indication of the laid-back nature of the top dogs displayed at Marineford (besides Akainu). Have we seen Kizaru ever try? No. Have we seen Mihawk ever try? No. The list goes on for some of these Warlords and Admirals. Marineford simply cannot be used as an example to gauge strength. (It's why I find the arc somewhat frustrating as Oda was holding all the Navy top dogs back). Whitebeard and his fleet didn't do shit to any of the warlords or Admirals. Those guys weren't trying anyway. They were literally playing around the entire time or not interested. Only one who was trying was Akainu. Akainu was fighting against all the notable figures by himself. Remember near the end, he was literally fighting alone against Jimbei, Ivankov, Crocodile, Marco etc. And this was a mere few minutes after his solo fight with Whitebeard. And even after all that, he STILL gave Luffy his scar. Only time we've seen two Admirals go all out it was offscreened because Oda knows it's not time to showcase their true powers yet.

The user of the mythical zoan snitch-snitch fruit model: Rat King has been revealed

JoyBoy

Fun fact: the emperors were actually planned first, then the warlords who were slightly more last minute. He also blames the warlords for the series length Oda: I haven't finished ONE PIECE yet despite the 20-year-serialization. The main reason is these guys (Shichibukai). At first, I intended to finish ONE PIECE in 5 years. It was supposed to be a story to fight against pirates called Yonkou. However, I came up with the idea of Shichibukai... I just thought, "It would be badass if these characters showed up". Then as you can see, it caused this long serialization!! Why didn't I make them Gobukai or Nibukai!! (TN: "Go" means 5, "Ni" means 2 and "Shichi" as in Shichibukai means 7 in Japanese. In short, Oda is saying he should have reduced the number of Shichibukai.) I thought 7 was a cool number!! That being said, I don't regret it since I drew what I wanted. ...l'm regretting a bit!!

Sander D.Castle

Oda came up with the Emperors first as the big threat on the way to the One Piece, later he came up with the Warlords and they took up a lot of the story

Matess

Man, I absolutely forgot that Rox got mentioned here already. Great discussion about the potential of this thing and what it might mean.

Monkey D.offy Lucci

I just wanna say I implore yall to watch Strong World and Episode 0.

Capitano

Big Mom's flashback ended when she was like 12-14 and the next thing we know in the timeline is her giving birth to Lola and Chiffon in Totto Land in her 40s. So there is a 30-ish year gap which we don't have any details for. The only thing we do know of that period is that she was a pirate; she was giving birth to a lot of kids and, at some point, she made Totto Land her main territory.

klairvoyage

beginning & ending were mapped out since ch.1🙂‍↕️

Oussama Essamadi

Man, Oda was throwing us crumbs back then and we thought we were eating like kings, lol. Rox, often spelled Rocks by fans. It feels surreal to hear you guys say that name.

charlie

Loved the discussions can't wait for more

Alex Recorde

Now imagine reading this chapter without all the recap and filler. i still remember how crazy it was

Dancing Viru

(this will be as spoiler-free as possible & intentionally vague, but still, don't bother reading this, it's just gonna confuse y'all): oh god, this shanks scene still fascinates me, mainly because I disagree with how the community interprets the meaning of this scene after being caught up in the manga.

Sanji Joestar

Not gonna delve into anything but if it's what I'm thinking Oda addressed that in the recent Sbs, in case you missed it. If you have seen it, then I'm not sure what you're referring to. If you're in the Discord, feel free to share it in the Manga channel for One Piece ( not the Anime one ).

hussam abdelalim

I think at this point the "red rat shanks" theory was born

Envyus

Rocks is the official romanization. This episode is just the first time it was used and there was no official spelling at the time.

Daemedeor

Tbf, it’s not JUST by fans. Viz just didn’t know how to translate the name at this point. Viz corrects it to Rocks at the appropriate time. (Not really a spoiler because it’s not a misdirection by anyone)

Dreamknight942

The timing of this episode is amazing when you think about it, but I can’t say why lol 😂

Mr Dude

Are we getting a double drop this week if you don't upload anything on Sunday?

Oshidi

I have no fucking ideas either guys, from now it’s gonna be a watch-along😂🤣

SomeoneElse

Rat Shanks in the BUILDING. Something to note, when Shanks ended the War during Marineford and asked to be allowed to bury the bodies of Whitebeard and Ace, Sengoku basically says, "I agree, because it's you". 👀👀👀

weiweiwei

Never liked shanks anyway

weiweiwei

Reverie in the remake would be crazy

Wizkev

Hence the name "Rat-Haired Shanks"

Drakojin

Shit's wild and only getting wilder 😂

Dancing Viru

I just read the newest SBS, it makes this scene even more confusing now though.

BTImelesS

Didn't the live action go up to Drum island? Why would it mention God Valley? Did they do another "Garp is Luffy's grandfather" again?

David P

We are still missing the Monday episode right ?

Veritas

Garp's title as hero of God Valley was dropped sarcastically by Roger before telling him to save his son. It was brief and not relevant to the plot. There's also Easter Eggs where God Valley inspired the propaganda Garp Musical in Logue Town.

JoshVPlays

Oh god agenda piece nonsense

Matthew Gilroy

How do you feel about this reveal?🤔

Oshidi

Confused, of course, and pretty excited. Reading the comments of ppl trying not to spoil confuses me even more lol. But I didn’t have much thought about it. I’m not a theorist type of One Piece watcher you see😅

Lucius

Garp 🔥

ArtemisEntreri

Two new vice admiral have other names like admirals. Momuasagi (Pink Rabbit) and Chaton (Brown Pig).

Ariix

This is why I dislike Reverie in the anime. In the manga, it genuinely felt you got hit with one huge twist after another. I guess this makes it easier to discuss as its not too much at once, but man, that feeling of reading one chapter another and getting more and more insane lore is just unbeatable. Great reaction as usual!

jahschwa

Oda has actually said he planned the Four Emperors before the Seven Warlords. "The reason why 'One Piece' has been continually running for the past 20 years is because of the Seven Warlords of the Sea (the Shichibukai). 'One Piece' was initially intended to be a tale of fighting against the Four Emperors (the Yonko), wrapping up after just five years. It struck me that having these cool Seven Warlords of the Sea in the comic would be awesome; it was just a passing thought really. And then, just like a horror movie, it’s spiraled into such a long series!!" https://japantoday.com/category/entertainment/'one-piece'-author-claims-a-certain-seven-villains-extended-the-series-far-longer-than-he-intended

gWg834g42t

This isn't a big deal but it's meant to be spelled Rocks instead of Rox here. This gets fixed later on

BTImelesS

So wait, and this is a spoiler so if someone is not caught up don't continue reading... Ok so Roger mentioning it makes some kind of sense, since he knew that Garp was there. But it being a "title" makes no sense since God Valley was literally removed from history and maps. The name staying in the title just to give an "Easter Egg" is so cheap..

Szonin

Gion "Momousagi" and Tokikake "Chaton" were candidates in the running for admiral.
