(Fixed version, sorry I forgor! 💀) I've been eagerly awaiting how they would adapt Gyro's backstory, especially since they shifted it's placement around a bit. I also find it funny how Gyro has been wearing the face clips and green lipstick for most of his life, he found a style and stuck with it, I heavily respect that! 🍃 Gregorio is a deeply underrated character, I find the philosophy he was following in the backstory to be incredibly fascinating! The sheer amount if effort that he puts into stripping all emotion and personal reasoning away from his duty makes him the perfect antithesis to his utter goblin of a son! 💀 (P.s. It's funny how after Pucci, Araki just decided that clergy members just have sick geometric facial hair!) It was really nice to see Stroheim's VA's in both Japanese and English reprise their roles! Lastly, that cliffhanger... good luck ruminating on whatever the fuck that was for a week! 🫠 Next episode is already shaping up to be one of my favorites in the entire series for a multitude of reasons! 💅🏻🪶🪝

I believe Steel Ball Run went monthly with Gyro's backstory, chapter 24, which is basically this chapter. Also the Zeppeli in Phantom Blood started practicing Hamon with Will A. Zeppeli who learned from Tonpetty, so it's even more ancient in this universe.

Craving

Yea this is the start of the monthly chapters. Its only covered 24 chapters so far and now its gonna slow down even more due to longer chapters. They crammed a lot in here. Part 7 is the second longest part after part 8. This is where the true real highs stakes of the part really get going, the scope of the race is way higher than just money and you can start to see that with entire nations caring about the race. Its gonna pick up like crazy and not calm down till the end. :D I'm excited to see it all animated. They might have to cram like this or cut a lot due to how many pages we are gonna go through. One of these chapters is usually 40-50 pages. One piece could get 3-4 episodes just out of one of these chapters. I know in dressrossa they adapted around 14-15 pages an episode as the mean. it may not seem like it due to chapter count differences but araki has written 2000-3000 more pages than oda despite both of their consistencies with chapter releases. Bros been grinding forever and still going. He may be an actual vampire.

Saw someone point out that the statue Gyro was looking at is the same goddess statue in the Joestar Mansion in Part1. Cool anime addition!

Actually, it’s quite amusing—this statue was also included in the opening, and I assumed it was just an homage to the first installment. But the fact that they’ve incorporated it into the episode itself offers a fresh perspective on the opening, even for those who read the manga.

I’m not sure—perhaps, since this is a new universe, they decided to switch the narrator to a different voice actor. If that’s the case, I don’t mind; I’m actually glad to hear Speedwagon again.
