Hey there! I’m thrilled that we've finally reached 14 members! That’s our highest point until now!

As we continue to grow and evolve, I've been pondering some important decisions regarding how we approach funding for the project. Your input is invaluable in guiding the direction we take, so I wanted to open up a discussion with all of you! Please, share your thoughts on this matter; it’s important!

This is the situation: I created a developer account on Steamworks, and I’m ready to maintain releases of The Martin Experiment on both Itch and Steam platforms simultaneously! My initial plan was to leave the Itch release the way it is now (free to download, but you can pay if you want), and publish the Steam version for a low price, like $2.50, to push our budget further to improve our game. However, it has a problem. The Steam Store could make things difficult for us if they ever knew that other platforms were selling the game for a lower price ($0.00). They also want to have a lower price!

So, the options I think I have to release on both platforms are the following:

Remove the free download option on Itch and release it on both platforms for $2.50 (but sell it with a 50% discount or more to make it appear more times in the store), and sweeten the deal for patrons by distributing the keys automatically right on the first payment

Keep the Itch release as it is now ($0 of any amount) and release on Steam for free

A better option or strategy may have never passed through my mind and one of you guys has the answer we need right now

What option do you guys think should attract more support? I need your input to take the best route for this project!

Additionally, I want to know from the free members, what would entice you to upgrade to a $1.50 tier and become an official patron? Your feedback will not only help us grow but also ensure that we're offering the best possible experience for our community.

Feel free to drop your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions in the comments below or shoot me a message directly. Your voices matter, and together, we can make The Martin Experiment an amazing game!

Thank you all for being part of this incredible journey. Your support means the world to me, and I can't wait to see where we go next!

P.S. Don't forget to spread the word and invite your friends to join our family! The more, the merrier!

I think it's better to keep it free at the beginning. You could distribute it earlier to higher tiers, and later and later the less you pay, but after like a month or so, you should publish it for free so more people can try it and become patrons. Right now you want people to try the alpha and become widespread, if you make a paywall right at the beginning, I think you could scare people away. To be honest I wouldn't have tried the alpha even if it cost like 1$. Now after playing it I think it's more than worth it, but I couldn't know it before. PS, I really liked the alpha, keep up with the good work :)
