Separating the Showmen from the Showboys

Come with me and you'll be in a brand new Showmen commentary track! We're back together again to devour the sugary sweet bullshit that is Wonka. That's right folks, I'm a bit of a Bennett on this one! But Andrew & Nick love it and, as always, Miles hasn't seen it. Join us as we sing-a-long, snack on treats, and drink beer that is perfectly themed to various aspects of the movie!

PS. I listened to that track on Spotify again and I suppose what I claimed was pure imagination... don't @ me!

Erin

Harley Fonseca

Miles immediately reacting with "fuckin A" when Hugh Grant came out a second time made me cackle, along with the unenthusiastic "that's kinda funny" omG LMAO btw, I'm just now seeing this, but the glass roof they were supposed to break?? Totally looked like dicks in the design and I cant unsee it 🤣

Abby Mason

When I saw it in theaters, I mouthed "GO TIGERS" as soon as I saw that motherfucking tiger

Eden Wack

There was a go tigers in Les Mis when Anne was singing.

Gillian

Jacob LeGrand

thinking those might be olivia colman's real teeth is CRAZY

Gillian

"We'd like to acknowledge that this film was made on Oompah Loompah grounds." I'M DEAD

Gillian

Nick comparing Wonka to Top Gun: Maverick is CRAZY

felicia

I had a bag of M&Ms and i didn't open them for the whole movie and i do blame the movie for not making the chocolate more appealing

Cameron

i love this theme of eric going into music based movies (la la land, wonka) expecting a completely different movie (whiplash, greatest showman) (btw absolutely not comparing la la land to wonka LMAO)

Cameron

I definitely agree with ur take on some of the music though, it feels a little diluted and mellowed out. And its weird that it feels that way because honestly the original willy wonka doesnt even have super intense music! I feel like they couldve just sped the music up by like .5 and it wouldve been better

Grace Elsie

I need a twerkalong to hazbin hotel next 😂

Ashley Lynne Evans

I laughed a lot throughout this but my favorite part was "Noodle doesn't make it to the fuckin Gene Simmons version"

Krista

Jacob tremblay is 17 years old 😭

Daniela Culver

And when the world needed them most... They returned. But with no hats because amazon fucking delayed the delivery

Drew Newlin

Timothee Chalamet is not quite bringing the "'Willy Wonka is literally insane" energy that I want. He doesn't seem like he would let terrible things happen to children

Jaicee

You know who actually could have/would make a great Willy Wonka? Barry Keoghan! Barry already plays morally questionable, yet charming characters so well, and he has that interesting quality between his physical appearance and his personality where its hard to pin down his age at times, so it gives off a confusing intrigue in terms of what you'd expect of his actions, which already kind of fits with Gene Wilder's Wonka. I can also also see him having that bigger and bit more authentically campy energy to Wonka compared to what Timothee gave us, who was just so nonchalant that it felt hard to care about his character most of the time. I could easily see Barry's take on a younger Wonka being one that could work as either a prequal to Gene Wilder's Wonka, or just a unique standalone version. Also if we were to ever get another Willy Wonka movie with an older actor, I'd love to see Nic Cage's take on the character.
