The Yassification of One Penelope Featherington

Penelope & Colin? Really??? Hell after they were able to turn me around on the Queen, I trust Bridgerton to make me fall in love with anyone. That's right baby, we're back in horny town with a third season of one of my favorite shows!

Ive never heard an intro so rushed that was amazing LFG!

"storming back in and storm those tits" had me screaming

*slight book spoilers ahead -- read at your own risk!!* so the end of this season dropped two pieces of important info for future seasons... One (although eric im sure you rewatched it already), John introduces his cousin Michaela Stirling at the end of the episode. Michaela is a gender-swapped character from the books (the book character is named Michael) who plays a very large role in Francesca's book/season. yes she has her own even though she got married in this season! can't say why without major spoilers. A lot of people are upset about the gender swap, but I personally am hyped about it. Also... at the end of the ep Eloise and Benedict mention a masquerade ball, which is where Benedict meets his love interest in his book! so methinks that this next season will be focused on our boy Benny. I'm curious to see whether they also gender swap his love interest, especially since we just learned that he is a bi icon. Anyway I just wanted to let you know so that you can be as hyped as some of us book readers!

If they do a Violet & Edmund spin off, it’ll be like that scene in the OJ Simpson crime show when Kris Jenner is yelling at Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe.

It is always the best track when both Eric and I are boohooing at the same time

It sucks that so many people are being so crappy about the Michael to Michaela switch, considering diversity has become such a staple for what makes this show special. Not to mention book Michael was a bit....problematic let's say. Especially heartbreaking that the WLW change gets all this hate but I've rarely seen anyone bashing a potential MLM change. Not that they should of course, it's just interesting and a bit sad to see how the different relationships are viewed or fetishized :(

Ugh had such a good time with this season!! I am just perpetually sat for any Bridgerton content I can get my hands on and I am so excited for what happens in the future. Maybe a Francesca and Michaela spin off (including Eloise getting into some interesting things)?? I'm down.

I'd definitely be interested in them bringing back the Queen Charlotte cast to do a Violet/Edmund spinoff while we wait for season 4! I'm ready to cry some more about Lady Bridgerton

JB3476

The Bridgerton world is rife with possibilities here that they can probably do more original content separate from the books.

Eric's teary-eyed "the crown" during the Lady Danbury & Lady Bridgerton scene cracked me up (I was also crying).

It was a fresher to hear your review Eric! thank you so much, honestly this season was definitley a lot and got a lot of hate (mainly the book fans and fans have also started petitions which is fukcing insane and the actors/netflix/shonda's insta pages are getting hate. even the author had to turn off her comments on insta which is insane). But overall ended super well, and cressida was meant to have an alternate ending which was her mom leaving with her, but they changed it into her leaving on her own, because they plan on bringing her back into the bridgerton universe) AND YES THE CEILING OF THE LAST BALL IS CGI BAHAHAHAH THE CHANDELLIER, THE SKY did not even exist lol. And the reason why the last 2 eps were the best out of the whole season is because they were both directed by Tom Verica (bless his soul) but the rest of the season has 3 different directors which made many of the episodes very different. and with this season having a new showrunner, which is why it feels different. But I do agree, that each season cannot be the same. I'm very much looking forward to season 4 with an open mind, hopefully netflix will allow for the rest of the books to be adapted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNWqRwSxL0k&ab_channel=VanityFair (the behind the scenes for the finale)

SEEING PENELOPE AND LADY DANBURY INTERRACT THIS SEASON LITERALLY KILLED ME CAUSE IN THE BOOK, THEY ARE GREAT FRIENDS. LADY DANBURY WAS A WING WOMEN FOR PENELOPE AND REALLY WANTED COLIN AND HER TOGETHER. AND YET THEY DONT INTERRACT ONCE BEFORE THIS IN THE ENTIRE SHOW

Rue

I really appreciate Eric saying that even though the Pen and Colin story wasn't as interesting, the show was still good. I was a bit let down at the lack of Colin and Pen (what was there was good, wished there was more) but when watching it first I bawled and Lady Featherington and Pen making amends and watching it again with PMI, I was teary with Danbury and Violet. Watching Eric tear up at the end made me really appreciate the show. Now we must wait for spin off / season 4!

happy pride month to benedict and francesca bridgerton! when they introduced michaela I thought it was gonna cut back to eloise being stunned but it was francesca haha, scotland's gonna be fun I hope we see it next season!

I like how this season it felt like everyone had character development not just a few main characters. Tho I do wish there were a few more just Colin and Pen scene to show their relationship better. However I feel like that was also down to the editing cuz at points I felt they were just jumping from plot line to plot line (I’d forget other plots were happening till they showed up again), just don’t think the editing flowed as well as it could have. Still loved it tho and love Penelope and Colin and how personal/specific to her his love speech was, just wish they has a one or two more moments of them like that, cuz their actors are incredible.

Benedict had a threesome at a sex party with 2 women. That is probably what you’re thinking of

I'm always incredibly sat for your Bridgerton tracks!! Although I really liked this season (season 2 is undoubtably the best still), I think I'm really not a fan of the new showrunner Jess Brownell. In previous seasons it had been Chris Van Dusen, who left because of pretty constant fighting over creative differences with Jess during s2 - for example, in the first half season 2, CVD was setting Benedict up to be the lead for s3, and then halfway through the season Jess wanted Polin to be s3, so they sent Benedict to art school and had him get involved with the model, instead of continuing to set him up to be the next lead. I'm sure Jess will find her footing eventually (hopefully she does better work next season because it's all but confirmed that s4 will be Benedict), but I think one of the main things that was giving this season weird vibes was now that CVD is gone, Jess took these characters in the directions she wanted them to go, which weren't necessarily how these characters had been written for the past 2 seasons. So in a way, this season felt like one big transition for a whole lot of characters. But I also think this season would have felt like a transition in a way regardless of the showrunner, because after this season a lot of the love stories take place outside of London society, outside of Mayfair, and even outside of the regular "season". So I do think them putting Polin's season before Benedict's actually made sense, because the rest of the Bridgerton sibling's love stories don't necessarily depend on Lady Whistledown or the Ton! So i'm very excited to see what comes next because I think seasons of Bridgerton from here on out will all have very different vibes!

Cameron

I would also love to see a prequel for Violet and Edmund! I think Bridgerton spin offs have so much potential, mostly because they aren't limited by having to follow the Julia Quinn books. The last two episodes of this season were directed by Tom Verica, who also directed all of Queen Charlotte. And I think his direction combined with Shonda Rhimes getting to create the story has endless possibilites! Great tracks as always! Can't wait to watch The Boys s4 with you!

k8ie

it probably would have helped if you were paying attention to the scene where lady bridgerton tells francesca that when she first met edmund that she couldn't rmbr her own name and stuttered and that's how she knew she was in love so when francesca forgets her name when she meets michaela it shows she might have fallen for her lmao

Amanda Cesarano

There was a part though where he accidently walked in on two men hooking up and looked a little maybe interested.

alieboo robinson

i love the benedict threesome but i dont understand why they just kept cutting back to it instead of just showing it at once

Kayla Fahy

I loved this season! But I admit Polin was always one of my favs as is the friends to lovers trope so I was set up to like it. I think I was hoping for a few more scenes of them happy or steamy together toward the end, but there was a lot of story to wrap up so I understand the need to leave those on the cutting room floor. Also, I had the same feelings after season 2 since it took until the very last episodes for Kate and Anthony to hook up. I'm hopeful that since Penelope and Colin are both confirmed for season 4, we will get some of those scenes of them being happy together next season like we got with Kate and Anthony early on in this season.

Kayla Foley

I really enjoyed this season! It came around for me, although honestly I was really hoping for a little makeout scene from John & Francesca. I couldn’t interpret Francesca’s expression when they kissed, if she liked it or not. Also we needed a scene of Marcus & Violet saying goodnight after the ball & having sexual tension!! Another hot Polin scene would’ve been great, Pen deserved to have a sweet wedding night!!

Gillian

Overall, this season was both different in ways that I think were an improvement, but also detrimental at times to the story. I definitely was skeptical watching by the end of season 3 part 1, seeing as the first half focused on Penelope and Colin's relationship building which felt rushed. Then, when part 2 came out, I watched episode 5 and 6, then took a break for a few days, feeling that the show was feeling repetitive with the several fakeouts of Lady Whistledown being revealed. However, I finally watched episodes 7 and 8 today and I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. These episodes felt much more exciting than the previous, actual stakes with the reveal potentially ruining the reputation of Penelope and her relationship with Colin and the other Bridgertons. Also, something that I think really shines in this show are the non-romantic relationships. One of my favorite scenes was the unspoken understanding between Violet and Lady Dansbury as they both show their unwavering support and love for each other's friendship. Another great duo is Benedict and Eloise, both bonding over their mutual feeling that they don't fit in to the traditional expectations of marriage. And it was so great to finally see Penelope and Eloise together, which I love. All in all, this season definitely had some issues pace wise but the last few episodes really nailed the Bridgerton tone we all love. I'm definitely excited to see where this show goes next season, especially if we get a Benedict glowup because I can't imagine the character being more attractive lol. It sucks it's not coming out for at least 2 years, but if they do a spin off, I would love to see a prequel of Violet and Edmund meeting and getting married. That way we get to see a lot of our favorites from Queen Charlotte in the past (Lady Danbury, Charlotte, Brimsley, etc.) but also we are given more context to why Violet speaks of how passionate her relationship with Edmund was, and how it has influenced the Bridgerton's family's future relationships.

FlexLuthor22

Again, I would have never watched this show if not for these commentary tracks. This season ended up being great in the second half. This episode was so satisfying it could have been a series finale.

Raneem

rewatching the first season tracks and you say i’m not sure what this show is but i don’t think it’s meant for me. i thought the same at first but here we are😭🤧
