The Summer I Turned... German?

Maxton Hall looks similar to lots of other shows we've watched, with plenty of hot people wanting to kiss, lavish galas, and even a mean dad, but there's one major difference... it's not in English! And we won't be watching with any assistance. Subtitles be damned, we're raw-dogging this thing!

I've had this idea for a while to watch something in a different language without any subtitles or dubbing and try to figure out what the hell is going on. Will we be totally off?? Or mostly get it right? And when are we finally getting back to that party scene?!

Alan had know idea what we were about to attempt but I couldn't think of anyone else more suited for this experiment. Join us, won't you? Guten Tag! Social media!

PS. We recommend watching this episode with the English (or your prefered) dub and English (or your preferred) subtitles turned on!

I just started the episode and already regret doing the English dub with you guys 😭

Gillian

The fact that you and Alan decided to randomly watch this show and it just so happens to be almost as horny as 365 Days is hilarious.

To be fair, I get why you guys glossed over Ruby walking in on the pedo and Lydia, but it would've caused a huge scandal if that secret came out, like tabloid level scandal

k8ie

okay you pretty much followed along most of the time but the one thing you had completely wrong which dictated a lot of your predictions was the pool party scene where his sister comes up talking about ruby bell saw her and the teacher hooking up and then the time card comes up FOUR HOURS EARLIER and basically shows us ruby coming to school going to class and then catching them making out....and title card hits! then we are completely in the present the entire time! i think someone mentioned this in comments of another track but that's the full context! everything else was pretty spot on (unless i also missed something lmao)!

k8ie

also any time i read the subtitles w/ the english dub in the background and they were completely different it honestly felt like i was hearing a foreign language anyway lmao

Abby Mason

I had to switch back to Dutch because the dub was so jarring. And I don’t care what anyone says, I was in this entire time. This show isn't half-bad!!! I hope you do more of these, it is hilarious and a really clever idea.

AMD

Amazing idea. Perfect execution. No notes.

Quentin

Jacinda Arden mentioned is Insane why is this german show talking about my ex priminister

i did love this concept very much i think its definitely a fun way to go with things, i’d love to see some like lore-filled horror or sci-fi sorta stuff with this to see how much you guys would pick up without the dialogue, something like sweet home or all of us are dead would be super fun where its got a basic enough general concept but a bunch of extra bits that would be fun to work out, or like a mystery or something like solomon’s perjury where you have to try to solve a crime could be absolutely hilarious though depending on what kinda show or movie you went into you may not even realize what the mystery is which i think actually could be even funnier

yes i def wanna get into something more confusing, this was a good place to start but we must go DEEPER

miamia

I'm so happy the confusion with the pool scene lasted all the way to the end of the watch 😂😂 This was so enjoyable knowing what's going on while you guys made up dialogue on top of it. I really hope you do it again!

All Of Us Are Dead would be perfect for this if it were around 6 eps instead of 12

Cameron

it would've been so crazy if you had this idea before squid game

i did, it's a maaany years-old idea! but i wouldn't do it with something i actually want to watch haha

Omg i love a good foreign film based off a niche book dude. I made a fun little YouTube video literally for myself about the first episode of Maxton Hall and I think you'd love it especially since you lowk missed so much of it! Also quick request for another spanish porn movie on Netflix but you need subtitles or you'll never survive the plot, called Through my Window and theres 3 of them!
