"Is that a camera?"

The bitch is back in M3GAN 2.0 and Jared & I hit the drive-in to be among the first to find out what this sequel had in store! More dancing? More one-liners? More... scares, right? WRONG. This movie went the Happy Death Day 2U route and ditched the horror in favor of a sci-fi action vibe, but will it work for this franchise the way it did for its Blumhouse predecessor?

Come for the "amusing mascot for slay," stay for the special drive-in guest at the end of the track!

OMG JARED IS BACK!!! I've been missing y'alls commentaries together since Servant ended. Long live fake baby movies!

Usually this kind of thing bugs the crap out of me (Don't Breathe 2 being maybe the worst case of it ever), but in this particular case I felt like they put enough care into making M3GAN's face turn make sense with what we knew from the first movie, and I was kind of left thinking if Cady had just gotten a chance to have an honest conversation with her once she evolved enough back then, a lot of problems could have been avoided. Also, big kudos to turning the weird pointless subplot of the guy stealing company secrets into the entire cause of the sequel's plot; no way I buy they were actually planning anything like this when they wrote that part, but they worked well with what they had.

Interestingly enough this has a higher Letterbox score than the first, definitely a different vibe from the first but I didn't hate it

Mariah McSweeney

I have spent YEARS trying to figure out what movie you were talking about in The Boy track thank you so much for finally dropping this lore

Getting a 100,000$ dollar fine for watching m3gan 2.0 would’ve been great odds to bet on

Eric: "Did they think anyone in the audience would enjoy this?" Me who enjoyed it: 👁👄👁

DUG

Man i missed jareds voice 😂

Laura

not me having a blast in the theatre bc of the malignant vibes in the scene where m3gan was fighting in allison williams' unconscious body while you guys are basically booing 💀 i liked mi: final reckoning 2.0, sue me!

screamussy

The first one is mostly boring, this one is fun as fuck! I was smiling ear to ear in the theatre, I had an absolute blast with this movie! I can’t believe you hated it

Eric just admit you like Kung-Pow. You reference it all the time and then say "it sucks but some parts are good." brother, it's all good. That's why you think about it. Don't run from it. It's a funny movie.

I got through 35 minutes of this movie then remembered there's a commentary for this. Time to start over.

Bizarrely fascinating movie. I could not care less about any of the Gemma/Cady stuff, but I disagree with Eric, I needed the movie to focus on FBI Mustache Man. It felt like the weird sort of James Wan-style cop I love to see in these things, like the detective who laughed about the kid getting his ear ripped off in the first movie. The random shot of him eating pizza with a giant napkin tucked into his collar made this poorly-paced slog worth it in the end.
