One last squid...

We've had ups and we've had downs, and now Squid Game is finally coming to an end with its third and final season. I mean, so they say. Wasn't David Fincher gonna make an American season? I don't know, who cares because THIS IS IT... FOR NOW...

Will Season 2: Part 2 wrap it all up with a pink bow on a black box with a body inside? Or will it have been better off ending two seasons ago?

My congratulations to what I'm sure are a huge amount of people whose fetish involves being slapped by Cate Blanchett. Your ship has come in.

I don’t think they spoiled any kind of twist with the button, because I think everyone knew from the moment they started fighting that he hadn’t pressed it. So whether they showed it at the beginning or saved it for later, it wasn’t going to be a twist reveal anyway… at least not for me and you noticed it too, so I think it was pretty obvious. For us it was great moment when me and my friends and I were watching we were all yelling at the screen for him to press the button. We really enjoyed it. Also we definitely thought she was gonna take the baby too. Was disappointed in the officer brothers storyline he literally went to the island twice and did nothing both times. As soon as I saw the boy from the first season I knew there was not a chance in hell you’d remember them 😂 Fantastic tracks, and I agree this season really surprised me with how good it was.

The VIPs weird dubbing and corny dialogue comes across so much worse because the final ensemble of actors in the games were really talented and giving it their all. Overall, I really enjoyed "Season 2.5", despite that tacked on epilogue. Although... the Front Man getting a little more screen time? I can't complain!

i kinda feel dumb because watching this i had no idea they didnt press the button until gihun noticed himself. i really felt so relieved that he had made it through and won again. i watched episodes 2-5 with my sister and we would try and predict a lot of stuff so im glad i watched this one on my own to be taken by surprise. ive seen a lot of people criticize this season and this ending, but my hot take is i think this was my favorite season. season 2 being close behind. im a bit biased because i didnt watch s1 when it came out though but i think both s2 and s3 were absolutely amazing.

I do love that we get a wrap up with sae-byeoks mom/brother and we get to see sang-woos mom again, i wasnt expecting to see them ever again tbh

JustVeryMundane

Some of my favorite tracks for sure, I was a sad sap with 456 at the end

Yeah the voiceover spoiling the button not being pushed was such a crazy move. I think they could've played it as the frontman saying it to try to help gi-hun again and made it more obvious but yeah I imagine it ruined what could've been a great reveal for a lot of people. Overall really enjoyed the season but as soon as yuri showed up on screen pregnant there was no doubt in my mind the baby would win in the end, only wish there'd be more time outside of the games that wasn't on that damn boat

FlexLuthor22

This was a satisfying ending to the show. I even dig the Cate Blanchett of it all as a sort of open ended expand the universe thing.

Austin

The ending at the airport with the parents and that teenage boy was a plotline from season 1. Sae-byeoks parents gave her little brother to Sang-woos mom to take car of him. They just came back to see him after years.

I didn't mind the button part only because by the time he pulled himself back up there, I had already forgotten about it so it was still a big "oh shit" moment for me. I think they were doing a bit of best of both worlds with reminding people but then hoping that they get so caught up in the action of the two fighting that they forget until that moment (which worked successfully for me personally and still gave me that moment) but I know a lot of people weren't able to forget about it during the fight so it spoiled it for them

I agree that I feel it should be wrapped up now, I don't have high hopes if they continue it in the US. However, that Cate Blanchett reveal made my jaw drop. Also, I guess considering it is Netflix's most popular show ever they'd be stupid not to continue making money off of it.

AMD

Accidentally got a little spoiled about one thing scrolling down to episode 5s watch us watch and scanning a comment under ep 6. But it kinda added a little fun to watching the finale while I wondered if she was really going to show up or was Eric just going to shout “oh hey Cate Blanchett’s in this!” while pointing at a random white woman with nice cheek bones.

So I realised that they needed to press the button but during the fight I forgot and only remembered the second after.

I've been nervous to get to this track to see the end and I will say that I actually enjoyed it. I think there are criticisms for sure, but even though I wish it just ended at this, I like the reveal that it is not just them. This is everywhere. It leaves you to imagine what each culture's games looks like and how they compare and contrast. But I wish it was left to *OUR* imagination. Though I will say that Cate Blanchett is such a great choice because she exudes that same kind of cunning and dominating power that left me with a slow chill. ((It would've been extra awesome if it was only a cameo))

Every decision post season 1 feels bogged down by the fact that they killed almost every character from the first season, so they have to start over with new ones every season per the formula, and that to me feels like why the ending is so rushed, we've really only had two sets of characters and aside from a few ghostly cameos, the first season characters are straight up forgotten. Retroactively makes the first season feel unimportant narratively. I'm mixed on how I feel about this, I'm kinda just rambling out my thoughts.
