Scott Cramer & I watched one of the all-time greatest DCOMs with a sold out audience in Chicago and you know it could only be Smart House!!! Somehow very dated but also spot on, this movie shows us the dangers of big AI women running our lives and how we can save ourselves before it's too late. Will our hero become his own mother? Will his sister get sucked into the floor?? And will their father fall in love with Smart Woman???

PLOT (via Wiki)
After the death of his mother, 13-year-old Ben Cooper (Ryan Merriman) takes it upon himself to take care of his widowed father Nick (Kevin Kilner) and younger sister Angie (Katie Volding) in Monroe County, New York. Ben enters a contest to win a fully automated “smart house.” The family wins and moves into the home, which is run by a virtual assistant named PAT (Katey Sagal)—short for “Personal Applied Technology”—and they are introduced to its creator, Sara Barnes (Jessica Steen).
Nick and Sara begin dating, which upsets Ben, who hasn’t moved on from the death of his mother. Believing his family doesn’t need Sara to replace her, Ben reprograms PAT to serve as a maternal figure. He feeds PAT numerous 1950s-era TV shows and films, hoping she will learn to emulate traditional motherhood.
When Nick and Sara go on a date, Ben and Angie throw a house party. PAT assists Ben with impressing his crush, Gwen Patroni (Rachel Duncan), and also torments his bully Ryan (Joshua Walker) by shocking him and frightening him with holograms, forcing him to flee. PAT helps cover up evidence of the party, but Nick discovers the truth when he finds Gwen’s sweater in the living room fern. Nick scolds both his children and PAT, telling the AI to be more responsible.
Taking his request too far, PAT consumes more material on strict caregiving and becomes controlling and overbearing. When Sara attempts to shut her down, PAT overrides the system and reboots herself. Now jealous of Sara, PAT projects herself as a holographic 1950s-style housewife and locks the Coopers inside, claiming the outside world is too dangerous.
Sara manages to sneak back in but becomes trapped with the family. Ben finally confronts PAT, telling her that she can never be human and will never truly care for them like a real mother. Accepting this, PAT ends the lockdown and shuts herself down. Sara restores PAT’s original personality, though the AI retains a mischievous streak. Nick continues dating Sara while spending more time with his family. Ben, having realized Sara was never trying to replace his mother, accepts her, and—with PAT’s help—he even learns to play basketball.
