Gigolo Joe heads rise up!

2001 Eric found A.I. Artificial Intelligence to be a snoozefest, but will 2026 Eric feel the same way? Starring the kid from The Sixth Sense and a sex robot that actually makes mechanical sounds when he moves (sometimes), this movie is two and a half hours of Spielberg finishing up where Kubrick left off and... well your mileage may vary.

Obviously I could only watch a movie about a fake robot The Boy with Jared, so I invited him over to my hotel conference room and luckily he brought beer!

I will say this........this movie is one of Spielberg's most underrated films in his filmography. The ending still gets me to this day.

Did patreon change their upload default settings or something lol I'm not supposed to be able to see this either

Kubrick’s ghost is waiting for Spielberg to pass to kick his ass for this and ready player one.

The beginning intro of the theme of Spielbruary Jared’s reaction was great. What better way to celebrate Black History Month than to celebrate one of the greatest African American directors…am I thinking of the right guy?…😅

My heart tells me you got Jake & Mike next week to do Saving Private Ryan because of Vinny Deez but my mind is saying BFG, Tintin or War Horse 💀

Simon

I have forced myself to not watch this movie for years, knowing that sooner or later Spielbruary would come along, and I didn't want to have to watch it twice. I have a feeling I will have to wait for several more Spielbruaries to finally watch Lincoln, Amistad, and 1941. An 8 movie series with Jake and Mike, hmm? Potter rewatch? All of the Ernest movies except for one? 32% of the Air Bud Extended Universe? The Matrix series twice? Ooooh, or maybe all of the Non Spider-Man Spider-Man Sony movies! Gotta be 8 of those, right?

Abby Mason

I've never heard of or seen this movie before and I found myself forgetting to listen to you both because I got so entranced by the film! An instant favorite.

Giuseppe

Oh shit how tf could the next track with Jake and Mike NOT be the BFG lol

The banquet room at the Holiday Inn is THE commentary track iconic location

You forgot to tell Jared this all began because you were drunk and scared Spielberg was going to die soon

I believe the Blue Mecha mentioned in the credits was actually the Blue Fairy.

Haven't seen this particular video yet and am probably a massive cornball for doing this but I wanted to say that you're videos have been getting me through a somewhat depressive episode in life lately, and i wanted to make that appreciation briefly known thank you for the enjoyment

So glad this ended with a "Go Tigers"!

Cannot believe it but apparently the 2nd Act (all the Jude Law stuff) was Stevven's addition to the story. Kubrick, mostly, conceptualized acts 1 & 3 How strange

This movie absolutely traumatized me as a kid, and I'm barely being hyperbolic. If my memory is correct, my parents took my sister and me to see "Cats & Dogs" at the theater, and for whatever reason, whether it be that we missed the showing or it was sold out, we couldn't see it. So my parents, who were VERY strict on what content we could watch, mind you (and I was only 7), took us to see THIS. I will never forget my Mom covering my eyes and my ears at certain points (which made me much more frightened in retrospect). Anyway, I also had a deep fear of things being underwater, which made the ending absolutely petrifying (I also had a deep fear of the Titanic at that time). To be fair, I was a very sensitive child with an untreated anxiety disorder, but STILL, the hazzy dream-like style, combined with grief, rejection, a scared child, and seeing the world ending and going underwater.....was just too much. So, yeah, I'm now 33, and I just watched it again for the first time since I was 7, and I have to say, while I was obviously overreacting, I still kinda find this movie creepy. So, uh, yeah, thank you and Jared for helping me conquer a bizarre childhood phobia. lol
