I was in Riga on a consultancy job during winter '15, and I wanted to shoot with some of the local models from Latvia.  I rented a studio for a day and arranged to shoot with three models for 3h each.

I'm attracted to charisma, and Sasha certainly has that in spades, so she was one of the models I just had to work with.

The first seven images with Sasha I shot only using daylight from the pale winter sky, streaming in through the windows.

For the next three images, I used a large square softbox - I can't remember exactly but probably 70x140cm or so.

The second to last image, I also lit with the softbox, but this time it's placed directly over the camera horizontally, which is why it has a ring-flash kind of look.

The images which have an extreme out of focus were shot with my 55mm 0.95 Canon dream lens - and the camera here is a Sony NEX-7 APS-C sensor.

The very last image illustrates a truism: Photo studios, especially during winter, is never sufficiently heated.

Enjoy
