Lighting with one light (Patreon)

In these Pre-corona times, I have bought quite a few workshops. And as an Advertising photographer before that, I have learned a lot about lighting and mood.

As Covid-19 made social distancing necessary, I started experimenting with creating Livestream workshops, and this set of images is from the very first mini-workshop I did live.

That workshop is three hours of lighting, philosophy on shooting, and live images created with Regina Piil. And of course a lot of Q&A.

Shortly these images are created with one light and precise usage of flags. These pictures are posted in reverse order, so the last image was really shot first. When you compare the two, you will see one has much more impact than the other (discounting Regina's excellent posing) by merely changing one flag a tiny bit.

Oh and one detail you might find interesting:
You likely know I'm good at retouching but this set was shot live. It is completely unretouched, and have not even been modified in any way in lightroom before exporting. This is how the raw files look!
And yeah, obviously creating raw files that look like this makes it much easier to create world class images.
