This summer, I was in the Lake District in the UK. The place was crawling with people yearning for the big outdoors, so as always, the early mornings are the easiest to find a quiet spot to shoot.
We were driving past this place, just after dawn, on the way to another planned location. When passing it, I did a screeching halt and backed up.
It was right next to the road and in full view of the road, but everything was quiet, so we jumped out of the car and shot for about 5 minutes with no one passing by.
Then on to the next location and the next, we eventually drove back to the house and passed this location again on the way. But this time, it was bumper to bumper with 5-8mph when we passed this place.
If there is one, the moral is if your instinct tells you a specific place could be great, use it, but do it then and there.
You are likely attracted to the current mood and lighting, and you don't know whether it is possible to shot in the place later on.
