When shooting at a location, I always try to use available light. One notable difference between setting studio light and available light:

Light-fixtures like these from a hotel bathroom can be much closer to the model and can even be visible in the image as they are part of the environment.

Placing a softbox or an umbrella in the frame on a studio shot rarely works.
