This shoot was probably stretching the models, Roarie Yum, Sekaa Chavez, and Willa Prescotts’ resources:

We had been up before dawn, hiking rugged terrain in Zion national park all day (the Subway), and more or less passed this place on the way back to the accommodation.

When we arrived, about an hour before sunset, the light was good, so we decided to give it a go and shoot there.
We did a very short set, went back, had dinner, and crashed.

And then we skipped the next morning's shoot as we all needed the extra rest.

All-natural light and a 24-70mm zoom.

In hindsight, I should have bypassed it entirely or done a more thorough job, but we were too tired to give it our best.

Which of these do you like best?

Nr. 2 is the best. Roarie is the outsider. And the two other girls is hanging out like cowgirls (in nude). They have the same attitude as i cowboy movies, where they are checking out the new stranger.

What a great location for a portrait of an old cowboy and the black & white rendition is very effective. But somehow it just doesn't work with three beautiful models. Looking back, with the benefit of not being exhausted, what might you have done differently?

The Concept need rethinking. The main problem is there are no one leading so everyone are doing their own thing, as opposed to one being the main character and the others follow suit. For me that’s the best way or making groups bigger than duos: assign a leading role to one, and ask the others to follow the leader.
