The light on the first image is from a sole round window streaming down as you see it and, of course, slightly enhanced in post-production.

When I shoot models on location, I will first look for places where the light can work and then see what environment I can use an a background.

I find that this works better than finding a great spot only to discover the light doesn’t work.

Then you spend too much time and energy beating a dead idea that will likely not work.

Look at the light on the left half of the image in the accompanying movie, and you can see how much it matters.
