Wiana and the spotlight (Patreon)
Content
This is the Wiana model in my old studio. The light source is probably the most interesting here (except for the model, of course):
It’s a Westcott focusable spotlight with built-in gobo so that you can set up a light frame like this.
It’s fantastic, but there are a couple of caveats:
You can’t use more than 750 ws light before it overheats, and it comes fitted with a 110mm lens.
In effect, this means that you need the lamp about 10m away from the model for a shot like this to get the frame big enough to encompass the model, so you need a big studio.
The distance again means you, on ISO 200, can shoot at around ƒ3.5, which is not much light for a full-figure image.
That, of course, also means that the light is so dim you can hardly see it when shooting unless you can make a complete blackout of your studio.
Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it’s a bit of a struggle every time I use it.
