I taught a private 1:1 workshop in Lanzarote with Nausicaa Yami as the model.

The challenge with anything that has to take place within a specific time frame when using available light is whether the light work and is flattering.

Generally, I prefer light to be from a 15-25 degree angle above and sidewise to be a bit from the side. If you imagine a broomstick going through the model’s hips, I prefer the light to be 15-30 degrees in front of this stick between model and camera.

All that is explained much better in my studio light with one lamp guide.

But back to the challenge; Since I can’t move the sun or shoot at another time, my only choice is to change the model’s position relative to the sun.

Generally, have her tilt her face upwards and then adjust the rest of the body to a pose that works with the “locked” facial angle.

And in case you wonder: The lingerie is Honey Birdette.

Given the lighting available, the images work well.
