The Gatekeeper (Patreon)

I stayed at an old castle near Padua in Italy this summer and had Paula come over for a shoot. We had to dodge the neighbors and management of the castle, but we still managed to get some great shots.

The backlit images of Paola are a bit odd, but I still like them:

Since this is the outer wall, some light is coming down into the courtyard, which means that the backlit images aren’t entirely backlit, they have fill light from the camera.

If you can’t change something, find a way to place the model that will work with the light.
And I did, as far away from the courtyard as possible, so the lighting of the skin on the shadow side was as low as possible.

I would have preferred to have even less light, but this still works well.
