Five days ago, I made a post about Marsha, shot with a Jena Biogon/Biotar vintage lens. The Biogon whetted my appetite for interesting lenses, which led me to support Lomo Petzval’s Kickstarter when they launched the 85mm lens.

As soon as I received it, I put out a casting for a model so I could test it, and Rakel Osk replied. I freely admit that the third image is a little “Alice In Wonderland” crazy, but I thought it to be fun at the time.

I don’t use this particular lens much anymore; I’ve since bought a Canon Dreamlens 50mm ƒ. 0.95, and I like the characteristics of that better than the Lomo. Nonetheless, I still like to experiment with vintage lenses. They give a different take on photography, one with interesting (or weird) artifacts, but sometimes the lack of perfection makes the images stand out.
