A blast from the Past with Vavara. 

This is just sunlight streaming in through a window. The "secret" ingridience are two black foam core board just to the right of the model to block ambient light in the studio for opening up the shadows.
If you look at the wall around the window, you can see how much light can shine up and soften the shadow.
That's what I want to avoid on the model.
