227 Panels (Patreon)

I counted. A whopping 227 Panels total. Longest I've done yet but I did have 2 weeks to work on it so it's not too crazy. Also not sure if that's going to be uploaded as one or split up because there's more than one music track included and there are size limits 😭😭😭

Either way... Snow can go eff off. Terrible for driving and terrible for drawing. Takes so much time and effort. On top of that, in the middle of a party too. No more parties I hate background people 😭

Gotta love the Yeong joke, though. At some point I was expecting a Yeong-Geek joke. Or, if joined a soap opera, which would it be? Why, The Yeong and the Rest of Us, of course!

Chris

Great job Quim! I know it must’ve been hard, but we appreciate it so much! I will kiss every background character I see and name them Bob❤️ IM SO EXCITED HENSIDNSISJS HAVE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR A WHILE BUT ITS TRUE

jubilee47

is the rest getting uploaded this week still then or is this in two parts :)

quimchee

So it looks like the remainder of the episode will be uploaded next week as 212 with the second piece of music. Lowkey glad it wasn't cut off a few panels later because then you guys would have enough time to spot something I snuck in that would definitely ruin a surprise 😭😭😭

They can’t get it up? You put in so much work for it to all be one episode 😔

♡◇
>>100495322

I know you wanted the whole thing up due to how important it all was but 😭 I’ll be there next week all the same.

Anonymous

will 208 upload tonight?

Xiomara~

Hey Quim, just to let you know that EP 208 it's not free yet 🥺 and thank you for this episodio can't wait for next week!!!

AuntWacky

Man, I'm so sorry, Quimchee. I hope they pay you in full for all of the work you did for 1 episode! And to think Webtoon is one of the better webcomic apps! So frustrating. I'd be livid, but at least it's done. I hope you can rest a bit more, in any case.

Apparently uploading several episodes at the same time confuses readers and ruins the viewer counts and revenue and is only recommended for translations/foreign imports - My editor

quimchee
>>100495322

I mean I get the revenue part but Idk how uploading several episodes confuses readers 😂

Elle
>>100495322

Whaaaaaaat?! I’ve literally eaten it up when you’ve released more than one episode, same with everyone I talk to in ILY communities I guess it can’t be helped though 😔 Looking forward to the rest of this amazing episode when it comes!

Ashlie

Yeah, the more I think about this, the more upset I am on your behalf. I know they aren't like, beholden to your word or anything, but it sucks knowing that you spent the better part of two weeks getting this episode ready, because you wanted us to have it all in one go. And you did 227!!!!!! panels including all the extra work that goes into the snow and altering your assets for it. Idk I know you probably can't comment much on this but I know a lot of us are really upset on your behalf. :/ if they were going to split it, you could have saved yourself some energy 😭

AuntWacky
>>100495322

That's grade A, 100% pure bs and they know it. Why not be honest and say they don't know how to handle your awesomeness? 😉

Elle
>>100496041

Exactly! It just feels disrespectful to all the work that got put in these past two weeks 😭

hufflenuss
>>100495322

Don't really understand that because even when Webtoons return from a hiatus there are always several fast pass episodes up at once, it's not like readers aren't ready to pay for one more episode. Ah well, it's a bummer after how much time you spent into this episode to get it out this week. I hope you'll be able to draw the next episode with no rush then and get your well deserved rest.

>>100495322

it’s more confusing this way imo given how it’s obvious that the panel has been cut off 😑 the episode doesn’t feel complete. also fastpassers would eventually pay for ep 212 as well so idk how this decision makes sense in any way. i don’t understand the editor

quimchee
>>100495322

Yeah idk what goes on in their heads at the office sometimes especially during the past year or so. So many decisions that had me going wtf

quimchee
>>100496041

Honestly though. Every single time. the advice is "cut it and figure out a cliffhanger" 🙃

quimchee
>>100495322

Yeah I don't know either 😭 there's literally no difference. And every single time I bring up "two part special" episodes my editor shoots me down 💀

hufflenuss
>>100495322

I wasn't around back then but how was it with 64+65? Did the regulations change or something? It would be great if Webtoon would give their creators some more freedom on how they can publish their stories🥲

Xiomara~
>>100495681

It's free now so don't worry!! But they definitely were delayed like 1 hour

Ashlie
>>100496041

Lol UGH because "cliffhangers keep readers engaged so they'll come back next week" NO cliffhangers annoy people esp when they know the effort the creators went through. I know their ultimate goal is profits and story is secondary but ugh. It reminds me of you telling us that they tried to convince you to simplify your backgrounds to save time. Like... okay sure that's an option but in a storytelling format that relies so heavily on the visuals, the little things you sneak in or the scene you set... it just sounds frustrating to be a creator with a vision told "meh let's just do this instead" 😭

AuntWacky
>>100495322

It's like nobody in the office has ever read a comic book! 🤔🤨😑

AuntWacky

They've been having issues with their latest update to the app, too, I've noticed. Good gravy marie. 😑 Somebody needs to create an app for biweekly and monthly comics. I know consumers can get overeager, especially in an age where everything is expected to be instantaneous, but humans are just not built that way! 😤

quimchee
>>100495322

Yeah I think perhaps the fast pass and ad revenue changed a few things since they werent a thing at the time yet. Also 64+65 was one episode. A really long one. So my editor fought to get me paid 2 episodes worth for it 😂

Cassia Clark

Also, uggghhh my heart. He looks so sad. Hopefully Kousuke will see this and stop his rampage...

hufflenuss
>>100495322

So..they don't allow such long episodes to be posted anymore😐 I've heard from other creators before that they get paid for each panel they draw but only until a certain amount. Is that (still) the case? If this even is a question you're allowed to answer

Anonymous

Some people explained what happened on the comments there (that's how I learned you actually had a patreon haha), so it's all right, but really sad you planned all this in one go and them they do that. But yeah, one more week, hope you at least get some well deserved rest from it.

quimchee
>>100495322

Yeah they stop paying after reaching a certain panel count which varies across different creators but. I do believe the standard is 50-60 panels. So drawing beyond that is like working overtime but without the pay 😂

hufflenuss
>>100495322

Damn, taking that into consideration it's not too bad the episode is split😬 To think so many panels would be left unpaid..Don't overwork yourself without getting paid for your extra work, your health and a fair payment are really important :)
