Abomination - Nature of Krampus (Patreon)
Content
The Nature of Krampus is kinda-sorta our second subclass ever for the Abomination! It was too obvious to me that this was going to be my holiday special this year.
Yuletide Stalker is our 2nd-level minor feature here. In this case, it's a free mutation, Brutal Horns, because Krampus always has them. Demon of Winter is the big transformation feature, and it gives you bonus-action grapples, cold resistance, stronger horns, and the ability to frighten creatures if you'd be duplicating an existing grappled or prone condition. Prowler By Night at 6th gives you a limited-use free invisibility as long as you move slowly. Night Sight at the same level gives you excellent darkvision. Saintly Companion at 10 reflects Krampus's role as Santa's little horrible helper; your allies get cold resistance and bonus damage against creatures you frighten. Holiday Terror gives you the abduction ability the Christmas demon is known for; drag enemies at full speed and deal free damage if they fail to break free. And Demon of Yule is your capstone, granting even more damage against controlled enemies, extra ways to frighten things, and extra cold damage. Adding all these features together, an enemy you're grappling can be taking 4d6 damage every round, and you're attacking it with advantage, and your attacks deal 1d10 bonus. Brutal.
For the mutations, Krampus comes with five. Prehensile Tongue gives you an alternate natural weapon, a grapple-focused tongue. Binding Chains reflects the fact that some Krampus depictions come wrapped in chains, and gives you an effective whip and a simple AC boost. Yuletide Sack lets you grant your allies tasty treats and stuff grappled enemies in your sack. Twisted Hoof is another natural weapon, in this case a straightforwardly powerful goat-kick. And Fortifying Fruits here covers Krampus's well-documented love of schnapps.
As always, you're invited to come discuss and offer feedback on Discord! I think the Krampus is likely to live only as a holiday special, but it can probably be reworked into a more general theme without too much trouble.
