Wow, this character was quite the challenge...in a good way 😉 My maker space is littered with beaver body parts after changing directions twice before landing on this happy-go-lucky Chap. The little arms and head are pop-on which allows for various poses :) And I while I have never seen beavers in the wild stand on each other's heads, we had a ton of fun stacking them high.Happy Printing -Dan

I test printed between 50% and 150% for this model. 50% is a great size for keychains if you want to add a loop.

STL and 3MF files are included. * If you use the 3mf file, please remember that it is a painted project file for your convenience. You must check your material/printer/settings to make sure it works correctly for your printing project.

I added a 2, 3 and 4 color option

Consider scaling down a bit and add more to the plate. They are so cute at 50%!

I print with 15% infill/gyroid, .12 or .16 layer height for quality.

Make sure you have good adhesion. I always use a glue stick or next generation adhesion plate.

Gradient PLA works well with this model: I have a comprehensive list of Filament I use here: https://www.amazon.com/shop/flexifactory     *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases

Can't wait to start printing. Awesome job Dan Going to have to be print up a Beaver Dam for the tub. I can see my grandson playing with them at bath time

William Crawford

Nice! I wish at least one of the preview images in the post was just 1 single color, though. It's usually quite a stark difference from having the eyes painted.

Rico James

Awesome! Can't wait to print this one..

George Price

Love the design but wow, 22 hours to print one beaver at 100% at default settings using Bambu P1S with AMS. One beaver on the plate slices at 22 hours print time with 175g of material wasted on colour change flushing. The beaver is only 103g. Managed to put three beavers on the plate with a plant pot for the flush to object which will take 37 hours and 100g of waste. Am I doing something wrong?

EJA

Pls make a new dragon I think its about due

Dan

It really depends on how you color it. With 4 colors at the head, yes it takes quite a bit of time. I added a 2 and 3 color version to give some options. And it scales down nicely. If you wanted more on the plate.

Dan

Thank you for the feedback. I usually do but my wife went paint crazy and painted all of them! I am printing some more and will add to the photos :)

Kevin Young

I average 0-3g waste on multicolor prints. Adding objects to flush into is critical, along with calibrating your flushing rates.

Dan

Have you had a chance to chime in on the discord? I would be very curious to see how you reduce the waste :)

Mike

I love it so much! It looks especially cute in the blue color 💙

George Price

Would be great to know what you use to flush into. I have been trying some fidget toys to flush into but many times these are not large enough to be the full height of the object I'm printing. Flushing rates? I'll need to check that out on YouTube and see where i can make adjustments.

Lann Mandrago

I’m so upset the Amolen brand is American only

Adam Jones

Another one knocked out of the park!!! Super cute!! Can't wait to get these on the printer!! Thanks for the hard work and sharing with us!!

Lidia Heinzel

So cute! The file 2and3color is not in the allfiles.zip

Dan

Oh yes, I forgot to update the zip in this file. In the downloads folder I added it:-) I'll make the correction.

Dan

I didn't know that. Bummer. They manufacture in China so I assumed they would ship to most places.

dootjelove

how far did ya scale it down?

Tiffanyann

Omg you knocked this out of the park. I’ve been waiting patiently. You did not disappoint ♡

Dan

50%. It's really small IMO.

bigibomb

according to their website they ship over seas too

Tanita

How do I get the smaller beavers?

Dan

All of my designs are scalable. If you read the post you may see that I test print in smaller percentages and larger percentages. All you would need to do is scale the design in your slicer smaller or larger as needed. I provide the STL at 100%:-)

Tanita

Ok, thank you

Could a squirrel and chipmunk be in the cards at some point too? Once I posted this awesome beaver I had customers asking! LOL

Gregory A Henry

Does anybody else have issues with the overhangs on the head and body? I've tried twice now on my mini with matte and then basic PLA and I get terrible layer lines. I didn't think the angles and overhangs were that big, but not having any luck. I'll try with my A1 but it is currently printing another long run.

Trevor Buchanan

How do you add a loop for making into a keychain?

Dan

You can do that in the slicer. There's some shape options in there where you can add a loop or a hole if you prefer. I suggest a couple online tutorials depending on the slicer you're using :-)

Dan

I test print on a Mini and I did not get terribly layer lines. Is it possibly an issue with the material or the heat and cool settings? If you had a couple pics to the troubleshooting on Discord that will help get it resolved quickly. And you can add your setting and material info there

Adam

I did too. Printed 4 bodies on one plate, and 4 heads and arms on plate 2. Bambu matte. All had pretty bad overhang layer lines on stomachs and chins. A1. 100 scale

Gregory A Henry

I used the default settings from the 3mf file using Bambu matte on a mini. I cancelled the print when I saw how bad it was then switched to basic PLA. It was better, but it still had some bad lines. Also canceled when I saw it. I added manual tree support and got a reasonable print, but still not sellable, and I still think I shouldn't have needed them. I was thinking about trying on my A1 since it is newer. I live in a very dry climate, with humidity between 10-15% right now and when printing with the basic PLA it was a new roll.

Patrick O'doherty

Hi Dan, Just wondering where do I find the download file for the Beaver? Cheers. Patrick

Trevor Ogden

how do I download the beaver file?

Dan

The beaver is an older exclusive that has come out of the Vault. If you want to purchase any of the older exclusives that are not included, you can go to the pinned post at the top of the page and follow the vault links
