Getting ready for summer beach time!I hope you all enjoy my latest addition to the tattooed collection. These little crustaceans make a pretty cute pair 😍There are 2 versions with STL and 3MF options:- Standard- Captured Magnet

For the Captured magnets use 6x2 magnets HERE*For those of you that have never tried captured magnets, I made a quick tutorial.(The tutorial is for Bambu Slicer, but should translate to other slicers.)

Print tips and Info:

STL and 3MF files are included. * If you use the 3mf file, please remember that it is a painted project file for your convenience. You must check your material/printer/settings to make sure it works correctly for your printing project.

I print with, 15% infill/gyroid, .12 or .16 layer height for quality.

As usual, make sure you have good adhesion. A glue stick works or I have switched to using on all my machines... a BIQU Cryopgrip Frostbite adhesion plate.

Gradient PLA works well with this model: I have a comprehensive list of Filament I use here: Amazon List

1st/2nd photo are 100% 3MF: Cookiecad Sunrise and Mint Chip

3rd photo is 100% STL: Ziro Vibrant Coral

4th photo is 100% STL : Ziro Colorful Mist and Neon Matte

5th/6th photos are 100% STL: TTYT3D Fast Change Rainbow Silk

Oh mylanta! These are Superb! I just printed a bunch (50) of another creators hermit crabs, they're going straight into the bin now and these are replacing them immediately!

Be open to being the villain in your own story

Not to micturate upon anyone's parade, I prefer installing the magnets after the print is done. I've tried both methods. and I've had better luck with installing the magnets after the print is done that doing the captured method. The non captured ones seem to stick to my refrigerator better. Also, I can start the print and let it run w/o having to hang around for it to get to the point of installing the magnets. Just my $.02

It is only two lines. I haven't tried, but I think if you dropped just right below plate, you can have that open magnet version?

Looks great, about to print some now. fwiw I prefer the captured magnets (less choking hazard), these are great to have with the models

Please let me know if that works. I have not tried but I am curious to see if this is a workaround for your preference.

Don't throw them away, give them to neighbor kids or coworkers or surreptitiously leave them on store shelves for others to find...would be nice to randomly brighten someone's day!

I love the tattooed models as do my coworkers...I give away all my prints and there are tattooed orcas everywhere! I've got an H2D arriving next week, looking forward to seeing how it will handle these crabs (especially black and white in the same print, should greatly reduce purge by assigning them to different nozzles). Not that I'm waiting until then to print some crabs, mind you! 😂

Be open to being the villain in your own story

Worked like a champ! And, as past experience has shown me, the captured magnets do not hold as well as the installed ones. The captured magnet prints are more visually appealing than the installed one where you can see the magnets, but that's down to personal choice.

Do your monthly files automatically all upload into my MMF account? I'm quickly running out of storage space and would love it if all the files just saved on MMF permanently for me.

At the end of each month I send a link to redeem on MMF. You will need to have a free account, but once you click on that link everything for the month automatically shows up in your download folder under shared with me. So the short answer is yes :-) You do have the ability to store them there.

I changed the process last month and now everything goes to either the bonus folder or the download folder. I wanted to make it a One-Stop place so you could always go and get the most updated file. I have a top post with the link or I always Link at the bottom of the message. Patreon had cute thumbnails that made it a little bit more obvious but they have removed that for some reason

My wife & daughters have been begging me to find a cool hermit crab print for them, and up until now, there were no decent ones to be found. Well, sir, you have been promoted to HERO level by them!! All 3 women were blown away and of course, now I have to stop the printers and get started on Hermit Crabs for them immediately!! You nailed these and I thank you for your efforts!!!!

I printed one in a red filament and loved the model but not really crazy about the color, I have this different pink and a purple I think it would look great with! I love it!
