No huge changes.

I gave the visor a slightly larger footprint touching the bed to minimize failures especially on smaller prints.  I also tweaked the eyes one last time. First they were too big, then they were too small, now they are juuust right.

Thanks Again-Dan

Thanks Dan. Also I wanted to tell you something. My wife was looking at some of your designs that you printed on the X1C and wanted to know why I couldn’t print them. I explained I didn’t have that printer. Well today she surprised me by showing me the order confirmation where she bought me the X1 Carbon as an early birthday present. So thank you for that too. 😁

any chance of giving him different weapons? I'm thinking like a Morning Star, a Pike, or maybe a one-handed sword and shield?

Majors3dPrints

Now that i got my ender 2 pro printing very decent minis im going to print this at 40%

Meryl Walker

Awesome! Even after printing nearly 20 of the 1st version. HAHA! I can't wait to try the updates

Dan

That's Awesome!

Dan

love the morning star idea because it can also be flexi

Elder Hexer

Hi Dan any chance to get the back part for this or future models, so we could put it together with superglue

Rachel Lyon

Love it! Any chance the head can be made separate from the armor so that us one colour printers could print the face in a skin tone?

Dan

Way too many possibilities for not aligning and inconsistencies, I'm afraid. Ok, it's an option, haha. But I do try and stick with the print-in place and no supports. Additionally, I would need to make major changes in the designing. As I have seen with some of my models that I have separated for larger builds...alot more user error too. I really try to minimize the failures and make the models approachable for the most people regardless of expertise, and the most machines :)

Hanjo Herrmann

Would it be conceivable to design with support and without the flat back? If it were still really 3D without the flat back, that would be awesome. I would like a vote on this ;-)

Charlie Tibbles

as another person commented, different weapons would be cool or a flag/banner to go in the opposite hand to the sword would look pretty sweet I think

Dan

Conceivable yes, but not really the way I design unfortunately, Print-in-place and no supports is my business model. But I certainly do dabble with expanding the capabilities within that :)

Hero Electronics

(suggestion box) Maybe you could fashion a back with concave angles that will PIP to add a little character from behind.

Jesse Smith

Yes a Axe and or sheied combo!!!

D.M. Rod Co.

Yeah I'd like to move on to more animals, things kids may like to buy ???

Dan

Oh, I have a bunch of animals in the works :) I like to mix it up.

Has anyone had problems with the sword? I printed two of these at 65% on my Bambu and both swords have broken. I think I had the sword in both hands so not sure if that is why it broke? I’ve already got someone who wants to buy both of them but I’m uncomfortable with the swords breaking. Should I maybe just print in single color so it’s a continuous print and not have weak points?

Dan

Haha very funny.

Dan

That is a good idea to print it in one color. I'm surprised to hear it is breaking at 65%. I will do some test prints on a couple machines too..I didn't have this issue but would like to know if anyone else is?

Shannon Hudick

My daughter fessed up to being involved in one of the swords breaking. She said she was just trying to put the second hand on the sword and it broke. I think I might have even done it at 75% (I really need to write these things down) because the replacements are small 🤦🏼‍♀️

TheArtifactWorkshop

No breaking here, but he hasn’t done as much dragon slaying as I had hoped yet… 😆 I have only done one color prints so far, also on my Bambu. I did 3 walls like I normally do which means it probably doesn’t have much infill.

Dan

You shouldn't need a separate file. In Cura, you can use the mesh tool to separate the parts and assign to an extruder. What machine do you have?

Rachel Lyon

I have two Ender 5s . I didn't know this about Cura. I will give it a go. Thanks!

Ron Allison

Dan any chance of making a horse with matching armor to stand next to the knight? I love this design however he ready needs a horse!

Dan

A horse has been requested many times. On my list, but it has some challenges that I have been working through from a design perspective.

Alf Petter Mossevig

I love these new multicolor prints! They are seriously awesome! Do you mind if I ask why you chose to make them with these "implicit lines" that can be detected by the slicer, rather than separate parts/objects for each color? I find the latter so much easier to work with and get right on a multi-color printer.

David Konkler

This guy is awesome and prints really well. I don't suppose there's a way to access and try the older files? For those of us that aren't able to print in multicolor the eyes are still pretty hard to paint, even at 100% scale. :)

Aaron Eaton

Also, any word on getting these mmu files in the zips in mymini?

Dan

Yes. Usually send the files on the last day if the month. But I also have the files here on patreon

Cara Street

Hello! I am wondering about the helmet for this Knight dude! He printed so well except for the helmet won't shut, so just curious. I did download the latest version, so I didn't know if anyone else had issues. I did make it smaller than the original file. Thx Cara

David Jon Sieben

I found a similar issue with downsizing, but even at 100 % you have to hunt down that one singular thread that sets the face guard free ...

Jodi Howell

I know this might be a long shot cause you are so busy, but is there any chance we could get a shield?

Dan

I am planning on doing an accessory pack for a bonus :)

Brandi Parkhurst

Do you think it could be possible to make a female version of the knight? I'm in the military and our mascot is the black knights. My supervisor is leaving this summer for her new assignment and I was wanting to see about 3d printing her a knight that she can pose with the sword and shield. Also, would it be easy to modify the shield to have our flight design on the front of it?

Dan

Modifications do take considerable time and anything I make does go to all the members, since I a a one man shop. I have been asked for female characters before and hope to do some. I am a boy and have two sons, so I kind of design what I know hahaha.
