Second update has the most recent files 6/20/2023And Final files are also in the June Files post. UPDATE: I noticed on some slicers the left wing could cause a crash. I have fixed and updated the bug. ..........................................................

This character was a HOOT to make, and I hope you love it :)With the new mechanisms, I was able to make the head and wings rotate, so the owl is posable. The snap in parts are interchangeable for lots of color combinations. I printed the Owl above with my go to TTYT3D Rainbow for the wings, and the head and body are Amolen: Shiny Red/Gold

And...I did ad the colored 3mf files for Bambu and Prusa

I will update the post when the colored print is finished.

This is excellent! The changeable parts are great. I’ve had a few of the Phoenix models get tossed in the trash due to customers twisting the feathers off. I could save the model if the wings could be replaced. I think this a step in the right direction. Thank you!

Any recommendations for print settings . I been breaking wings on the Pegasus. I don’t want to start one yet. So tempted too. Anyone else having broken wing problems.

good day friends, i have a quick question, when the bambu slices , there is error about owl head has floating regions, enable support. do i just ignore this since all dans designs are with no supports? thank you

I do not get this error when I slice on Bambu Studio. Check to ensure it is sitting flat on the bed.

Correct, you can ignore anything regarding supports. Depending on how you lay it out it may throw the error code.

Breaking while printing or getting off the bed? If getting off the bed- try tapping each feather at the base plate lightly with a scraper. They pop right off. Try a removable flexible plate. I have had them break if I just try to pull them off tge plate. I have used both the another methods and had zero break. Hope this helps.

I have 50% on the plate now. I tested to 60% several times, and it was strong enough and functioned perfectly for me.

Wing on the front and right side (facing the printer) consistently fails. Im printing with a p1p and bambu slicer. Any pointers? i'm trying to avoid using a brim because the color of the brim wont match the wings.

I tend to use the same settings on all machines. 15% infill, 3 walls, no supports and .12 layer height for solid colors and .16 for painted models.

I had a wing adhesion issue on my X1 the first time I tried to print it that caused the taller fins to spaghetti fail. I added a brim and am reprinting.

I add a brim with a .35mm gap.. just falls off, but makes sure it doesn't fail.

Yes I am having issues with the left wing of the Alicorn (Pegasus) & thought this post was actually an update to that file. It fails about 50% of the time on the same 2 feathers. Nice surprise to see a new design though!!

100% @.2mm, 3walls, I use 25% infill, 1d3h45m-I scale them down to 75% and can make 3 small ones same settings(1d4h59m)-I find that most people like smaller ones.

The colored owl at 100% and 4 colors took a day and half! The smaller ones, single color, just around 4 hours. So it really depends on the coloring that adds the time.

I found rocking it back and forth while in the socket and gently pushing worked for me.

Oh, it is a professional program. If you are looking for a step up from Tinkercad, you may consider Fusion 360 or Blender.

Where do i find this file? Do i pay for it or is it part of the membership. Sorry still having trouble figuring out where to go for files. Im not so tech savvy...lol

I'm new at this 3d printing stuff. I loaded the owl head into Repetier and get this message, "The object is not manifold. This essentially means that it is not watertight. This normally causes problems during slicing, resulting in unwanted results. We strongly advise to repair the model." Is there something I need to do? I love your work!

Thank you :) Cura usually shows issues that would occur in other slicers and I am not seeing that message. Any chance you can send me a screenshot to Flexifactory@gmail.com? I run it through several machines and slicers for test printing...so I would love to believe it is ok. But would like to check.

Looking at your other prints of the owl, the one with the white body and brown wings, what filament did you use for the wings? Haven't seen that brown layered.

That one is an amolen black red gold. I don't use it very often as it is quite dark but a very nice gradient for AMS. It does have a slow change, very slow. https://amzn.to/3RKvtqO
