We enjoyed watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and we now know it's feasible to watch a TV show for CT... every once in a while. It takes way more time and effort to cover a show and do right by it and its fans. We have some ideas for TV shows to cover, but we want your input!

Comments

Darcie D

Parks and Rec is the only show I’ve watched out of all of these. lol. Ron Swanson pyramid of greatness.

Brittany Hill

Last of Us was a brilliantly written video game and perhaps an even better show.

Will

You love Edgar Wright, so Spaced lol? Weird show that.

Maggie Nardi

Community changed my life in so many ways. I've read a lot of analysis on it already, but would love your take on it.

CajunDreamz

Legend of Korra is the only one I'm familiar with that I watched the entirety of. I was thinking The Office was going to be higher though. I'm happy with LoK.

Austin Daniel

All of these are great TV shows. I gotta say the good place really got to me in a profound way especially with near ending season but no spoilers! Whichever you guys do will be hilariously awesome as always!!

SaucyJTB

I'm glad you guys are sticking to your guns and are not accepting all TV shows. Putting out a specific list of TV shows you guys are willing to cover is really clever! This is excellent way to stick to your boundaries, while also being willing to give just a little bit (but not too much). Keep kicking ass, CT Team!

SoulFunkCrusader

Any character or relationship analysis from Community would be awesome to see

simdoodles

the good place would give you soooo much stuff to work with, and it's not too long!!

The Family Mansfield

Please consider doing a series on Derry Girls. I would love to hear Jono react to the complexities of coming of age in a time of strife. Plus, Sr. Michael is pure gold.

Tine

I'm down for Korra! But would really love BUFFY!!!!!

Melissa

Sherlock!!!! Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Mark Gatiss, Andrew Scott, Sian Brooke, Una Stubbs, Louise Brealey ... Let's Go!

BJ

The Good Place had a profound impact on my life. When my spirit is suffering, that's a show that I will go back to. And not just because Shirtless Chidi is a major thirst trap...

Verena Paters

The vampire diaries? Sooo many relationships to rank and/or analyse

Steve

As a die hard fan of both The Office and Parks and Rec, I was leaning toward Office until Darcie reminded me of the marvel that is Ron Swanson. I’ve never bought a funko pop, but someone close to me knew how much I cared about Ron Swanson’s character that they gave me a Ron pop and I have had it on my desk for years. Please, please, please do Parks & Rec and back in the greatness of one of the best characters ever in TV. And boy does he have things he needs therapy for lol I can recommend some specific episodes involving a Tammy if that helps.

Ashley Herbinger

I’d love to see your reactions to The Office. I’m now an AMFT and I see things with such a new perspective — and I think Michael Scott and Co. offer an absolute treasure trove for therapeutic commentary 😆

Big Red Cube

Oh, I am so happy The Good Place is one of the leading options.

beckerboopin

I would SO love to hear your thoughts on The Owl House. It's such a phenomenal show in every way. I think you guys and your kids would LOVE it!

Drew Cornog

Will you be taking suggestions for other shows in the future? Because I have plenty in mind.

Hello there

I was hoping to see the last of us here 💚💚 there is soooooo much to unpack. I love Joel so much. Fingers crossed to see it as a CT episode😁🤞🍀

Imogen Heiden

One of my favorite series is Prodigal Son. It's about a traumatized criminal psychologist whose father is a serial killer, but unfortunately it only has 2 seasons.

Faith Donovan

That was a really tough choice between The Last of Us and The Good Place. I really want to see you review both!

MrWishart

Only 6% for Community?? This poll is clearly streets behind.

Aleia Ream

Ooh exciting news that you all are branching out to television, occasionally! I am dying to see Johnathan go head to head with Dr. Linda Martin from Lucifer!

Brandon Payne

I actually know a show you guys would really love. It's called the 100 and it's on Netflix. It's a post apocalyptic show that has amazing world building, character development, and plots that span for 7 seasons. I think if you took the time, you'd really like it. It's an old CW show btw.

Alexis Jones

I feel like the legend of korra would be a great pick especially since you just did avatar the last airbender. Korra also goes through a lot psychologically as an avatar and I would like to see Jono’s take on it. And see what Alan thinks about combining bending with technology.

Sarah Rodrigues

PLEASE WATCH THE GOOD PLACE I WAS LITERALLY PREPARED TO PLEAD MY CASE ON THIS BEFORE I SAW IT WAS ALREADY AN OPTION I’ve been so hyperfixated on this show and honestly I think you guys will love the character development across the entire cast

CoyotePawz

I'd love to see you all react to The English (6ep western with Emily Blunt) or a classic 24ep anime like Cowboy Bebop! Or a show like Reservation Dogs (bring in a native voice)!

Lauren Wagstaff

SO TORN between The Good Place and The Last of Us but the sequel will be out soon so it would be good timing. And there’s so much there for trauma, found family, etc.

Erin McCullough

I've not watched any of those, so I will sit this one out :)

TriggerNometry

Would love to see your take on Star Trek: Prodigy. It has the same values as ATLA, so I think it could make for a good watch and hold some therapeutic values.

Priti

In this "The Good Place" versus "The Last of Us" mini-competition, I'd like to bring up that TGP is complete! It's done, you can react to all of it! So please pick that one! (not biased at all ahahaha)

BlackwingRed

Korra was a show I was not prepared for. It touches on some very interesting topics and it was quite the emotion roller coaster. It makes sense though since the target was teens and young adults.

Sean Achor

I’m surprised you guys haven’t done Lucifer yet (unless you have and I missed it in which case mb) but if not, I’d love to see that video one day if possible!

Ike

Legend of Korra is a lot less deep than its predecessor, but "Ranking Relationships in Legend of Korra" would be an entertaining episode. The relationships in that show are horribly toxic

Lauren D'Ambrosio

I would vote for the good place because it's been around for a while longer. The last of us is still fairly new, and a lot of people have not seen it yet, myself included.

Rashida Islam

Even if legend of korra isn't picked this time, please do it at some point! It deals with deeply complex and dark emotions well.

Julie Dykes

Korra is INCREDIBLE and deals with a variety of topics in such an interesting way, especially the way Korra's trauma is dealt with in season 4. It's not on the list, but I would also recommend the Tangled series! Rapunzel and Eugene's relationship is goals.

Allison Hall

The good place is one my favorite shows of all time, I think that it's a wonderful source of some really good life lessons for people. Have fun choosing!

Katie Cline

Oh, I love so many of these shows! I hope you will eventually do more of them. If you do end up doing The Good Place, I would love for Jono to talk about Chidi's decision paralysis. I have never felt so seen in a character! And I would love to get a therapeutic perspective on this.

Carissa Cunningham

I love all of these shows (except I got tired of The Last of Us and never finished it 😅) so I’ll be happy with any of them!!

101Deadpool101

Legend of Vox Machina would be a great show for you guys to cover. Plenty of material to work with.

Sierra Roberts

I feel like a legend of Korra toxic or not would be awesome

Kate Ackerley

The Good Place is one of the smartest, if not the smartest show ever written. It's not only philosophically deep in the context but also the characters are deep and well-written. it's very well cast and acted (I love everyone in the show) and the character arcs fit so well in the overall point of the show. There's so much material for CT. 100% do this first and the others next, please!

Lorelei Furan

All ya'll are amazing and I appreciate the CTS team. It's been great therapy for my life

Kambria

Omg so many AMAZING choices! I couldn't help but vote for 3 🤣

Sean Sussex

You. Season 3 particularly. I want to know what Jonos opinion on their couples counselling is

Rococo

The Good Place has been one of my favs, and the last episode has stuck with me for a while. All great options regardless that I would love to hear thoughts on!

Rimigafob

Korra, Community, and The Last of Us! Yes!

Anna H

Parks and Rec is my comfort show, so while I don’t see it winning here, I would be so happy if someday you got around to it. Just an absolute Chicken Soup for the Soul kind of show ☺️ Also The Good Place would be fantastic for plenty of psychology and filmmaking discussion!

Emily Snell-Salvaggio

Ooooh, I’m really pleased to see you guys would be considering TLOU. I wasn’t sure if it would be considered too dark 👀 Both parts 1 and 2 would be so good for content, though I understand that part 2 may be too spoiler-y to cover when the new season comes out. Regardless, TLOU definitely has my vote!

MsHalcyon

Oh boy, I'm a notorious "didn't quite finish"-er of shows. Time for me to go watch the last few episodes of The Good Place!

Angela Nichols

Parks and Recreation is one of my favorite shows and comfort show. I have watched the entire series ( I own it) countless times and I still laugh. The writing and entire cast is wonderful ! I still laugh at every thing when I watch it. I would to see you react to it. I also feel similarly about The Office just not as intense and I haven't watched every episode a gazillion times. I love The Last of Us and think it is one of the best shows but admittedly it is intense and sometimes traumatic similar to how I felt about The Walking Dead. But that episode with Nick Offeman was incredibly moving and made me sob but it was also full of hope

Scott Rutter

I feel like The first three run fairly long

Wren Teslok

The Good Place has so much interesting material to dig into. The ethics, the difficulty of making ethical decisions *alone* is a huge thing that I've struggled with IRL, especially balancing ethics against budget and survival. "I don't want to support but their stuff is on sale this week so I could afford more nutritious meals ..."

Reylomemes

Come on guys! Let’s get Legend Of Korra into the number one spot! It’s just below Good Place!

Tune Flake

I would also love you guys to talk about Bojack Horseman 🥰 it has so many amazing opportunities for character studies

Nicholas Frega

I gotta say, based on this list, regardless of what you pick, your taste in TV is amazing!

CapSon

I think even Schitts Creek. Probably Jonathan can do more detailed analysis of the series on Mended Light..just like how he's been doing for Gilmore Girls.

Sophie

This is a funny suggestion but I'd love to hear your thoughts on H20: just add water 😂

BirdkeeperBobby

This isn't super influencing my vote, but I'd be curious to know how many (if any) would be first-time watches for either of you. I hope you'll get around to more than just one of these before too long. I love that you're opening up to TV shows now! I know they're longer and thus a bigger commitment, but that also allows for more nuanced and fleshed out stories and character arcs that movies can't always capture to the same degree. Again, so excited!!!

leafsheepz

Before we say goodbye to AtlA, can we please get a Toph episode?? She's the only one on Team Avatar you haven't talked about.

Daniela Galvez Flores

Please please please do an episode on About Time. This movie was Tailor made for cinema therapy. It brought me out of depression and it's my favorite movie of all time.

tres 🫶🏻

Literally any of these would be SO GOOD

Sam

THE BOYS

redfblued

Has anyone thought of the show Leverage? I'm sure they would have a field day with the Leverage crew's issues.

Edward Newkumet

Damn, one piece is still not on the poll

Amy Petty

Oh my goodness, I just saw this. I'm so stoked to see The Good Place is winning.

Amy Petty

I really think that the live action One Piece needs to be on your list! Not the anime - it's far too large. But - and I think I've said this at least once before - there is SO MUCH to analyze within each character, especially Luffy. And the live action is only 8 episodes but does a truly fantastic job of distilling the characters' personalities.

Serafina Pekkala

I would recommend doing Erased (the anime not live action). I think it only has 12 episodes.

Lisa C

Legend of Korra! Would love some more Avatar/Airbender content, and maybe even some Toph since she’s the longest living character from the original series. 🧐 Can finally see her full arc if you do an episode on her! I also loved Lucifer, it would be awesome if you featured the therapist in that show, or do more from that series!

Hank Alme

I look forward to discussion of the Forking Trolley Problem!

Nova Villmark

I was camping for this poll but I'm glad where we ended up! The Good Place is a beautiful show that was way better than it had a right to be!

Mr.Cow

Psych!

Kamila P

If I could recommend the only anime that I ever enjoyed watching it would be Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou. I think there is a lot of emotional depth in it.

omnomnio

Goodplace, parks and rec, and the last of us would be amazing!!

Amelie W

Heck yeah, The Good Place. It is, I dare say, the most "good" TV show made yet. You know, ethically speaking. The quality of the writing and acting is of course totally subjective (it's super good). But yeah, the show has some things to say and it's rather direct and didactic about them, to a point where I expect there may be a bunch of comments along the lines of "The character just said what I was going to say, the show is doing our job for us." And I bet it's going to be great!

Jennifer Couture

To tell the truth, I have only seen the office. So, if I could decide on one it would be Thirtysomething because that was on when I was that age. I have the whole series on DVD but I would like to see your reaction to it. Thanks
