What should we make this year?

We have options:

Ashes to Ashes

The comedy short film that was actually selected last year (but I wrote it too expensive!) about a mother and son trying to work through their grief on a roadtrip to scatter their husband/father's and son/brother's ashes. But they're like, pretty incompetent at it.

New Submissions

People submit all new ideas for short films, and we go through the pitch process again. Then make a short film!

Feature Length Film

The Vessel - A psychological thriller/comedy about a group of friends, trapped in a house, trying to make sense of why their friend is speaking in tongues, and weird sh*t keeps happening. Also, they're working through old feelings, transitioning to full adulthood, and just generally dealing with interpersonal drama in a weird, mildly scary pressure-cooker.

We'd also pursue a theatrical release with this movie. And at the very least, take it on tour around the country (world?) to do screenings.

... this is so difficult. I would love to see Ashes to Ashes, but I'm dying to watch The Vessel... Okay, I'm going with The Vessel, but I want it to be fully understood that I will not be disappointed with any of these choices. I'm here for the ride 🤘. Editing to add that Alan has talked about wanting to do a feature film again. It would be epic to make that happen 😊.

Nell Campbell

LOVE the idea of a feature film, but way more invested in seeing Ashes to Ashes become a thing!

taylor garrett

If the theatrical release happens, would there be chances to invest further? Also, I would love to see a feature-length Moonstruck.

Lyndis Cealin

Hmm... I have a bit of a problem here, because before seeing the video in the other post about this my first and very strong reaction was 'It would not be fair to do anything else than Ashes to Ashes, because you promised you would' (and I am not that interested in Ashes to Ashes personally tbh, but it was voted last year and I think you should stick to that) BUT, you said in the video that you might not have enough money for Ashes to Ashes this year. If waiting another year would make it possible to get the budget for it, then I say take another year. To add to that, the feature film really sounds cool and I want to invest in that too....

Aeras

Man, this is a REALLY tough choice.

Zelda Gilbert

The Vessel is the idea that really excites you, so go for it! And then, NEXT year, could you consider a reverse version of The Heretic, where the cute young Mormon girl missionaries are the serial killers?

SaucyJTB

Heads up: If you guys haven't watched the video yet, I recommend doing that first! Alan goes into greater detail on the options given here 😊.

I think a feature film would be so cool and the basic story sounds right up my alley, but I'm with Saucy where I would be cool with any of the options. It's just exciting seeing you guys doing things you love to do.

Savvilix

I would LOVE for a feature film to be made!!!

Ember-Reece Richardson

I would love to see Ashes to Ashes but honestly, any and everything you do is awesome

Holly✌️

I want Ashes to Ashes to have a full budget and I really want it to maybe even be a full length film. With that said The Vessel is my pick

BlackwingRed

I will watch the video and make a more informed decision. Super excited to be a part of whatever gets decided on :D

Very interested in the vessel! Heck I'd audition for it

Reuben McKay

Ashes to Ashes deserves to be a feature-length movie.

SaucyJTB

Studio Execs, check out the messenger area, please. Alan posted a comment in there that hints at another potential update. I know we all want all the things, and it CAN happen. We just all need to work together to make it so 🖖.

Meaghan Rix

I would love a full feature film from yall but I think if ya'll did "Ashes to Ashes" first, it would be much more empactful when The Vessel comes to fruition.

Frida

Very curious about the Vessel, but also a hesitant because mixing comedy and horror (and drama?) is really difficult.... And if you make the feature, how does that impact the schedule for Ashes to ashes? If you do a feature now, will it make it easier for you to do A2A a feature too? Because that would be nice.
