Welcome to the third in a (maybe) new series - Cinema Therapy After Dark! In this show, Alan and Jono are forced to do their jobs with no preparation whatsoever, reacting to (subjectively) terrible movies chosen by crew members David and Brad. This time, the guys are subjected to the movie that allegedly caused the pandemic, Cats!

Viewer discretion advised. This show does NOT have the content boundaries of typical episodes!

Already my favorite CT episode ever

tres 🫶🏻

I saw this movie in theaters with friends. Unfortunately, I was the DD.

Linz

HAHAHHAHHAA!

Evan Linden

I didnt know I needed this

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

please take the maybe out and make this a series!! I def think it could draw in a new audience too that could also then watch your other amazing videos and these are just SO much fun.

Lyndis Cealin

This one really hurt. I want more.

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

I would show my almost 9 year old daughter "the ring" before I'd make her watch "Cats". edit: I HADNT SEEN THE CLIP OF THE RING YET. hahah. she just called from her grandma's and said she watched the ring and quickly said it was a funny version grandma found on YouTube, haha. that's why it's the movie that popped into my head. plus she LOVES horror movies.

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

lol this explains this particular episode so perfectly. I want a directors cut of this episode even though the uncanny valley is so hard to watch...

The episode that Jono and Alan didn’t deserve, but the one we needed!

Anya

I remember watching this film being like "Oh, I'm sure it's not THAT bad!". I was naive and optimistic. It was THAT bad and worse. Welcome to communal suffering!

Meredith Webb

I feel like I'm watching David and Brad (but particularly David) kill Alan and Jono's brain cells (and souls) in real time.

Boomfish

"Hal, it's about cats"

fudepen

Please tell me there will be a Project Hail Mary episode.

AriaKate

This is the most unhinged thing I’ve seen in a long time and I loved every second of it.

bryt.knee

I'm 30 seconds in and David, we would never cancel you here 🙂‍↔️

Shani Gribben

We could torture them with Cat in the Hat next

Hannah Rose 🥀🎵

Thank you so much for the laughter and joy you all gave us. I was dying laughing 🤣 I’m sorry you all had to endure the trauma of this movie. I hope David doesn’t get a new sleep paralysis demon from watching the whole thing. I love seeing Brad and David. Also side tangent, I love David’s music. ♥️

Hannah Rose 🥀🎵

There’s a quote from the musical Something Rotten that pops into my mind: “CATS! A whole stags of singing cats!” Just imagine this line said by a neurotic soothsayer.

Ren

I AM EXCITED TO SEE MORE MEME CLIPS OF PROJECT HAIL MARY FROM THE EDITORS STATEMENT

Jay Skylar's Stories

What did we learn from this? Nothing. We learned nothing. Except that we absolutely need as many of these episodes as possible because OMG that was hilarious and I think that was the most definitively I have ever seen Jono broken

Anna Murray

I lol'd soooo many times Full guffaw Couple of cackles Almost a spit-take!

DFABB

This was the final movie I saw in theaters with my first wife while visiting her family for Xmas 2019. Good lord, Cats did cause Covid…

Ben Sheppard

You know what else would be an amazing After Dark sometime? The old 80s and 90s religious videos like Magee and Me. I know Jono and Alan tend to stay away from their faith, but first it's Patreon, and second they're more of the Mr Rogers School of "don't be a jerk" from what I remember. I wonder if those ever made it West to Utah and into the Mormon circles.

Sammie

What I've learned is I need more of these! Because it is the best way to have breakfast is watching Alan and Jono crash out because of Cats 🤣

Hel

You know, I’m sure it’s because the only way to make it in Hollywood as a fat person is to humiliate themselves but I do feel like I’ve only ever heard them make fun of heavier actors, while they either have no comment or praise the others. Like I get it in terms of selection and what it takes, but also…

Donna Silvers

This is great! but please take the slurping sounds out

CinemaTherapy

Yes, Patrons recently voted for it so it's in the works now!

Smidge

For Cats... would it be a Sphynxter? 🤔

Katie Sanderson

I now understand why Andrew Lloyd Webber had to get an emotional support dog after this movie was first released. I bet you could watch this movie under the influence of magic mushrooms and it would be just as horrible to watch!

David Sant

Oh.... you're... you're a genius. ~David

KrissyArtist

This was great. I didnt think i would ever seen Jono break worse than he did with twilight. This was hilarious!

SaucyJTB

You know David won the moment he was fired. Bless you and your gremlin ways, David. As the unofficial volunteer HR representative, I hereby hire you back. Totes goats official.

ImperiatrixMatt

One of the many problems with this adaption is that they tried to add additional story elements to a fairly story lite west end musical, this is where I prefer the filmed performance version of the musical. What decision to make the clothes they have on stage into the fur pattens I never will understand. The Jenny-any-dots shows this as in the stage-show it's just a large coat. I think it's telling that the version of the show off-broadway is no longer Cats in a Junkyard and is reimagined to not look like this anymore.

Shani Gribben

David I’m still holding out hope for Repo the Genetic Opera or Rocky Horror one day

PrettyOddMoose

I forgot this movie existed and all who were in it. My god this was the best way to experience it. No notes 👏

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

"my first wife" I can't help but blame "Cats". I just feel if this wasn't a typo...Cats had something to do with it.

karls2000

at the end I think jono.exe has stop working lol

Andrew Feistner

Yes Alan, Cats is a violating experience. I saw it in theaters, paid money to see it, and that’s exactly how I felt

LibKat

Blast you, David!!!! I’ve had the Mr. Mistoflees song stuck in my head for TWO DAYS!!!

Nikita Harvey (she,her)

This is excruciating 😅 I actually adore the original musical but this film ruined everything fun about it, and the CG made it creepy AF. Suspension of disbelief just doesn't work the same way as with costumes

BlackAdder

I think this episode might have destroyed my excitement from watching naked women because now they don't really feel naked enough compared to this and now I'm traumatised to the point of psychological castration ... So thanks a lot

Mary Drewry

I wanted to see Cats, but after this I'm with Jono. I'm good.

Ezra Massey

Hey gang, I'm a long time fan but this is the first comment I've ever left for you. I have never felt more violated than listening to that train edit. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Kristin 🦦

My family was dying watching this, the reason just swung from laughter to horror. (We had never watched the movie!)

Frost Song

I love cinema after dark 🖤

Robin Moates

Everyone in this game hall wants to know what’s so funny back here in the inventory cave, because they can hear me *wheeeeeezing* with laughter and also the music from Cats. Omg, this episode alone was worth the price of admission. This morning’s core workout was worth it.

Robin Moates

I saw this with friends. The friend who wanted to see this one started apologizing almost immediately into the first number. I remember almost none of this. I think my brain blocked it completely out.

Frost Song

I had no intention of ever watching cats 😂 but the description of them sacrificing the cat in the balloon 🎈 made me realize it’s probably “rite of spring” the ballet - but with cats 🐈 so I am amused enough to see it as that and nothing else.

Alan Seawright

No one. That’s the beauty of ambiguity.

Alan Seawright

We all live in fear of Saucy’s HR powers.

Alan Seawright

We’re trying to figure out how to make that work.

Sarah Nathanson

I know it's a long show, but I would LOVE if you two did some Game of Thrones episodes.

Hannah Rose 🥀🎵

Is Taylor Swift dropping the catnip from the sky a metaphor for all the cocaine, shrooms, and LSD in the room when Andrew was making this musical? Or the amount of drugs in director and producer’s room for the movie?

Olivia Yslas

I have never seen Cats, but this shit had me CRYING of laughter by the end of the video 😂😂

Nacho Franco

I need an episode of this of them watching M. N. Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, please. I need Jono to react to that Uncle Iroh

Amanda T

Funny stuff. Without Cats we would not have this episode.

Nova Villmark

omg... this is the kind of pure unhinged shenanigans that makes me stay on patreon

Kate Ackerley

That was painful, and awful, and terrible, and horrible on so many levels.... even worse than my grammar... and I need more...

Kate Ackerley

also... this is a trully broken Jono... I'm so sorry Jono and Alan's pain is so funny and addicting to watch

Maisie

this is AMAZING omg I was dying laughing, please please do more of these

Maisie

Guys really, this might be the greatest thing I've ever seen on your channel. I haven't laughed that hard in months.

TWK

I cannot hear the name Mr Mistoffelees and not think of Team America...also, we just need more of CT After Dark. I commented way too early, the train bit absolutely killed me.

Amber

I have never laughed more in my life than when David does anything. I would hire him for no reason. I am in love with his particular brand of sadism.

InkStick

Oh goodness, does this mean 50 shades is on the table? Plz david dont be that evil

InkStick

Someone needs to make them watch the good version of this. (The cast recording)

Brian J. Kelly

OMG I haven't laughed so hard in a while

Gwenpool

Thank you!!! Because this made my husband’s and I’s day!

Ellen Beth Gill

IMO Judi Dench had a no nudity clause (claws?) in her contract. And she was 84 years old. Cats the Broadway musical was joyful. The orchestration, structure, phrasing of the songs were very different, and it didn't have the stupid plot created for the movie. The plot of the Broadway show was that Grizabella was past her prime and dying so they granted her a new life. The dancing was amazing and Mr. Mistoffelees was really magical in a cat way.

J

I just discovered this hopefully new series. It has scarred me for life, of which no amount of therapy can fix. I can't wait to see more!

Susannah Paletz

My brother just got me the Patreon of this (he teaches screenwriting and I'm a social psychologist who does applied psychology) so I'm just seeing this and oh. my. god. you guys! This is so painful! More painful than when I actually saw the movie Cats, which was bad enough. Using Thomas the Tank Engine for that purpose- NO! The original musical is just a fun time and based on poetry (no weak plot, no plot in general). But this movie was horrific. So, rightly roasted.

PJ

I’m only 11 minutes in and I’m literally sobbing 😭
