The director's cut combines parts 1 and 2 from YouTube.

Is The Kissing Booth Twilight with more energy? Is The Kissing Booth Baywatch with teenagers? Do you even know what Baywatch is?

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright have recovered from the Twilight series, and the internet demands their pain, so now they’re reacting to The Kissing Booth. They cringe at how the film lusts at and objectifies high schoolers. They groan at the overused tropes of the boring good guy and the bad guy with a heart of gold who happens to be hot and rich. The Kissing Booth is lusty and icky, but at least it has good energy and humor… sometimes.

Stay tuned for part 2 where they get to watch more toxic teenage relationships. Yay.

More Kissing Booth. Ew. More terrible dialogue. Ew. Still no apple boxes. Why!?

Licensed therapist Jonathan Decker and filmmaker Alan Seawright are continuing to react to (and suffer through) The Kissing Booth. They discuss the horrible relationship dynamics between Noah and Elle. They are frustrated by the cheesy score, poor green screen compositing, and the ridiculous framing of the actors. At least Twilight mustache dad shows up and has good things to say. After one movie, Jono’s brain has been liquified, and Alan swears almost as much as Tarantino. Dare they watch the rest?

Hello there

The description feeds my interest XD. Oh this is gonna be fun to watch you both beeing disgusted for an hour. #sorrynotsorry thank you for suffering for us XD

Meredith Webb

I feel like I also suffered along with you. That being said, I would like you to do the second and third films as well. Because a) I like a complete set, and b) you suffer so humorously.

Holly✌️

Alan and Jono, you guys were great, but can we talk about the edits?! The Harry Potter one had me rolling! Also, the X2 and X3 bit. I have never been so validated by an impulse purchase of a year subscription to this patreon account.

Bravehome

Now don't be prejudiced that the 2nd/3rd films could be as bad as this. They could be worse....

Demi V

You guys hit the nail on the head with the fact Noah was trying to pressure her into saying yes in front of the audience. Every time I see a big public proposal like that, all I want is for the person to walk away because it feels slimy and manipulative and for once, she did. Great episode!

Sean Goettsche

Noah: I did not hit her, it’s not true! It’s bull****! I did not hit her, I did not! Oh hi, Lee!

MotherOfWeiners

Just because there’s a shirtless male doesn’t mean it’s female gaze. It’s still being filmed from the lense of what men think is “sexy” look at male health magazines and it’s shirtless Hugh jackman. Compared to good house keeping with Hugh he’s wearing a sweater leaned in smiling. Female gaze is usually focusing on hands forearms and eyes. This entire film is pedophilic fodder and 100% male gaze.

Hello there

Ok, I'm done. The movie was blech but the episode was actually funny and it's proof that Jono has more than just blue Polo Shirts 😆. Is it selfish to say please suffer more for my entertainment 😅? I mean your conversations were too good, like.. Jono: It starts off feeling like the protective big brother, but what it actually is, is blech🤮 Alan: Aha Jono: Aha Alan: yah Jono: Uh-uh ❌ Alan: Okay Jono: Oh gosh ... 🤦‍♂️ Alan: The problem is... Jono: Which problem ?! Alan: List all of them Noah: You wanna know the truth? Alan: NO! I just want out!😩 AND... Alan: Am I a good boy now? (pulls down his shirt to reveal his manly chest😏🔥) Jono: (looks at him👀🙈) Oh I... Alan: (giggles🤭) Jono: ... wish I hadn't looked over 😅 Alan: (loosing it🤣) Sophie: We're gonna cut that And the last 10 seconds were just gold. I love your laughter so much.

Mollie Justin

I remember watching this movie and feeling icky after watching it. I watched the second one, and did not watch the 3rd one because I could not handle it...At least I don't think I've seen the 3rd one 😂 EITHER WAY. This was funny, thanks for shouldering some of the burden!!!

Birdwell Brown

Don’t think I’ll watch the movie itself, but this video was pretty entertaining. Something to do with schadenfreude, I guess. I want to see you watch Mulholland Drive. Those characters need SERIOUS therapy.

Teesh W

'Ah i love you noah. Sweet...violent Noah.' But you know how you were saying about the apple box but you also said if you tell the truth then there's less to keep track of? I wonder if they were like 'Ah what if we forget the apple box in one scene? Then we'd have to re edit it all....uch. we have too many lies to keep track of in this movie let's not add a box.' Completely unintentional consequence of that is it perfectly illustrates in cinematic shorthand the danger he would present if he absolutely flips his schnitzel.

Elizabeth

I'm wondering if the others will make Alan either cry or explode 🤔 bc I know thr 3rd got pretty damn bad XD

Traxathon

Molly Ringwald made me realize: how have you guys not done Breakfast Club yet!?

Sadie

"You know you're cute when you're bossy." 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮 A person I was dating in college once told me "You're cute when you're angry." That set me off and the relationship ended quickly. I haven't watched this movie but I don't think I really want to suffer through it...

Tea House at the Edge of Strange

So glad I never heard of this…can it be called a movie? Well I guess if the Twilight series can be called books… I’m completely over this trope. Can they start doing better now?

Virgo

Allan, DO NOT READ 50SOG. I did and you don't know what I'd give to get those hours back.

Briana Lindberg

Thank you for watching these so I don't have to but I can still get idea of how bad they are. Lol.

Smeeson

Oh my god. I think this was my favorite episode ever. I *died* laughing. 🤣

Ruth Popkin

Someone told me I had to see this movie, so I watched it. Thank you for confirming my thoughts on it. Twilight maybe movie junk food, but I am not even sure what this movie was.

Cecilia Harrington

I have never had the wish to see this movie, and watching you all suffer through this has reaffirmed my need to never watch this movie (or its sequels) EVER. Totally agree that this is just as bad as the Twilight series in regards to relationships. If you ever get around to it, I think it would be cool for you guys to break down and analyze either "Lady in the Water" or "The Princess Bride". (By the way if you all haven't seen either Oscar, Keeping Mum, The Whole Shebang (with Stanley Tucci), or The Impostors, do yourselves a favor and enjoy them!)

Neurotic Cow

It's so bad, even the dog (Gandalf?) Got up to leave

Neurotic Cow

People who struggle with anger, and people in relationships with those people, need much better representation. :/

Deb

On TV, a woman in a car driven by a man telling him "This isn't the way home..." is frequently the setup to a serial killer murder.

Tiana Horsey-Daydreamer

I resent the use of the Pride and Prejudice motife. A botched proclamation of love in a rain sodden gazebo belongs to Mr. Darcy. The man who actually learned from his mistakes. It's like they smashed a really REALLY bad misinterpretation of P&P with a teen movie and pumped out this calamity. It is a gross abuse of the Jane Austen story! 😡

ElizabethJustElizabeth

This felt like an amalgamation of every awful fan fic I’ve ever read but with original names slapped on top. You’d be dead if you took a drink every time there was a poorly done trope. Everything from the scene beats, the odd lack of clothing, and especially the dialogue, I can guarantee I’ve read before and they aren’t good memories 😂. Don’t get me wrong, fan fiction is a great opportunity to learn to write, get feedback, and tell amazing stories. I don’t mind digging through to find the good stuff, but stuff like what’s in this movie is the reason it gets a bad rap and someone actually paid for it…

Tabitha Hammer-Esser

regarding the question of "why people are into that genre" i think most women are so sick of taking al the mental load in their families live and wish that someone took over so they do not have to carry any of these burdens any more. and while their own partners might use the "i have to work to provide for us, you are a housewife, i did my part, do yours" point for themselves a rich powerfull guy does not need to go to work like that so he has the time to be all around you again. i actually never saw or read twilight, 50 shades or any of these, but I am in the lucky position to have a husband that wants to take responsability about getting trhough our daily live and taking the mental load on him, too. my sister on the other hand has a very old fashioned relationship (and they are in their late twenties) she is all about those books where women find these rich men and so on. not the abusers, but that sexy rich person. maybe i am totally wrong. but this is what I discovered while looking around me

Emily Powers

I would love yo know Alan's thoughts on the voice over commentary on Wednesday!

Shawna Bennetts

I love the guys reaction to the after party bedroom scene. Noah is manipulating El and she's half naked... and it's legitimately funny. AND you can see how guilty Jono and Alan look for laughing about it. 😅

Jennifer Veloso

Thank you for watching this so I don’t have to!!

Ayelet Seeman

I really want you to do closer. All the relationships are toxic, but they aren’t glamorized.

Rachel Jones

That was so painful!! My jaw literally dropped when you said there were sequels 🤢🤢

Reilly Willoughby

You should do Heartstopper! Literally the most wholesome of high school romances.

Serendipity with Jess

I mean, I knew there where sequels, but had forgotten, and totally agree with Rachel about their existence. Though I do not remember if they were as bad or not...they probably were. Also, yes I would love to see their opinions on the sequels. Plus then I do not have to rewatch them to remember what they were about. :)

András Balogh

I haven't seen this movie, or even heard of it, but it looks soooo painful.

Angie

Such a crap movie; I think it may even be insulting to Hallmark movies to compare it to them 😂

Michael Emerson

Sorry but PLEASE WATCH MORE. Your suffering makes good content.

ruffboiMags

speaking as someone from kansas, the dad DOES look like a chiefs fan!

Hannah Rose 🥀🎵

The creep on the beach does give Ted Bundy vibes doesn’t he?

I love Joel Courtney in Jesus Revolution, his talent was wasted on this franchise. For example, he gets a girlfriend in this series that we are supposed to care about but don’t (no offense to her) because they don’t build on their story. They just focus on these two and it’s not good. Another example of a side character being more interesting than one of the leads. Again not necessarily the actors’ faults. The writing is bad, score horrible, the direction oof, and the scenes and costumes aren’t even that interesting.

Melissa

Never watched this, but it was fun watching you rip it apart. 😁 Don't review the others, no need, don't put yourselves through it. My cinema popcorn is The Grand Seduction. Do that! No, not a toxic romance in the traditional sense. You fall in love with a place that is a lie. And I don't care that it's a lie. I love the fake village. Love, love, love this film! It's my all-time favorite. 😍

Anna Murray

"This movie gave my brain a UTI" thank you Jono, for the biggest guffaw I ever had! 🤣😂😅

Jennifer C

Its cotton candy for my brain and sometimes you just need candy

The Rainbow Llamacorn Faerie

I'm 5'2", if I really stretch for it. Hubs is 6'3". He is the shortest; his brothers are 6'4" and 6'5". I take an unholy amount of joy every time I get to call them my _little_ brothers. 😆 It annoys me when movies/shows use an apple box to shrink the height difference between two people. If there's a 15" height gap between them when they're walking next to each other, then there should be a 15" difference when they're standing still.
