Hi everyone! ✨

What an amazing start to this Patreon! Lots of free members and some of you already joined the 7-day trial for the Get Inspired tier! Thank you, it means a lot to me! 🤗

At the end of every week, I will post all my final Illustrations based on the references. The first week is already finished, and I loved to draw the first 5 reference images. Some were more challenging than I thought they would, and others were more simple and easy to draw. I am curious which one you liked best and which reference was a bit challenging for you.

For me, the Iceland and Switzerland references were definitely one of the most challenging ones. The Iceland reference, mostly because of the black sand... I always draw references with lighter colors, so this one was a bit of a puzzle to choose the right colors. But I actually do like the result and had a lot of fun with it! 🤗

The Swiss cow was also challenging because I had never drawn a cow before! It’s hard to create the right perspective. I misplaced his head a couple of times 😅

Because it was a hard one, I wanted to share my drawing process of the cow with you! For the sketch, I used a light pink colored pencil. For the brush pen base layer, I used:

Tombows: 912, 553

Ecoline: 374

The blue in the base layer looks a little funny, but I think it was a good idea to use a cool color as a base layer for the darker parts. It matches well in the end 🤗

TIP: Make sure to draw the same direction as the fur goes with the brush pen. This way you already get a nice base layer.

For the pencil layer, I used:

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 165 (Juniper Green)

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Bruynzeel (Light pink)

In the end, I thought he needed some greenery to make him more alive. So I added some green (Tombow 126, Light olive) and yellow (Tombow 912, Pale Cherry) as the grass base layer. For the pencil layer I used the Juniper Green and Sanguine pencils.

On Monday I will share the next 5 reference images with you! Stay tuned! ✨

Have an amazing rest of your day! 🌸

Love, Celyn
