Good morning everyone 🤗

The image of the introduction post to this month, inspired me to create this exercise for you. With this exercise you can practice drawing small illustrations like buildings, nature, etc. Just keep it simple and choose which details are important and which are not.

Exercise 1: Choosing your country

As we focus on drawing the 4 countries of the UK, I thought it would be nice to focus on drawing a map for one of these countries. You can choose between:

England

Scotland

North-Ireland

Wales

I chose Wales for my map! I chose to include lots of castles and old buildings with nature in between. 🤗

Exercise 2: Gather information for your map

Before you start drawing, try to gather some information about the most popular places in the country of your choice. You can look up other maps from other illustrators or visit some travel blog pages. Include the one you would like to include... in the end, it's your map of the country!

When you have a good view of the places you want to include, you can gather references of these places. Try to choose simple references with not too much detail.

Exercise 3: Sketch your map

Before you start using brush pens and colored pencils, start with sketching out your map. This way you can make adjustments to the map to make sure you get the right proportions, etc.

Exercise 4: Fill your map with colour

It's time to bring your map to life!! Fill your map with colors. You can use any material you’d like 🤗✨

Have fun and I wish you a lovely weekend 🤩
