Good morning everyone! 😊✨

It's time for another drawing exercise! Last year I got this little book of Jennifer Orkin Lewis, called ' The Sketchbook Idea Generator' for Christmas. Of course I used it once and then it ended up on my book shelf. πŸ˜…

This week I found it again when I searched for something else and I thought why not include a few prompts in this week's exercise?

Exercise 1 - Prompt 'Everything in your bag' πŸ‘œ

The pages are sliced into three tabs that provide you with a subject, a medium and a color palette. You can flip, mix and match the pages for endless ideas! I flipped the tabs with my eyes closed and this was the first prompt the book came up with!

Subject: Everything in your bag

Medium/technique: Watercolor (You can try wet over wet pain if you'd like to).

Color palette: Celery, smoky lilac, pickle

Tips

Before you start, create a colour palette with the colors of your own watercolor or brush pen collection.

Make a rough sketch of the things from your bag you want to draw

Don't be too hard on yourself to make the most perfect illustrations, let yourself loosen up and just have fun!

Exercise 2 - Prompt 'A mushroom patch' πŸ„

The second time I flipped the tabs with my eyes closed, this was the prompt the book came up with:

Subject: A mushroom patch

Medium/technique: Mixed Media (use whatever art supplies you'd like!)

Color palette: Celadon Mint, Cherry red, Brown

Tips

Surround yourself with every art supply you've got, this helps to use multiple media. Loosen up and use what pops into your head!

Again, before you start, create a colour palette with the colors of your own collection of art supplies.

Make a rough sketch of a mushroom patch, you can search through Pinterest for a nice reference. Try to use your own creativity when filling in the illustration with colors.

And again! Don't be too hard on yourself to make the most perfect illustrations, let yourself loosen up and just have fun! πŸ€—

Sharing your work ✨

I'm so excited about what you guys will create with this exercise! If you want to, you can share them in our group chat: Creative Practice chat πŸ€—

I wish you all a great weekend!
