Good morning everyone! 🤗☀️

Since it's summer, and it's nice to have some small challenges when you have the time to draw between all the summer activities, I thought it would be nice to give you all some inspiration for filling your sketchbook! Here are 3 sketchbook ideas/exercises you can try! 🤩

🎨 Mini-thumbnails

Fill a page with 6-8 little sketches of the same subject or scenery from different perspectives. These are small, quick sketches used to explore different compositions and ideas before starting a more detailed piece of work. As you can see, I filled a sketchbook page with different perspectives and details of a Strelitzia. Here is an example of thumbnail sketches by the incredible Chris Wilson!

🎨 Zoom-in / Zoom-out

Choose a scene and draw on the first page one or more of the details from up close. Draw the whole scene on the second page. This way, you can study the different elements before you draw the whole scene!

🎨 Mix and match

Combine two references into one illustration! Like a bird from one reference that is standing on a tree/nest/rooftop from another reference. Choose references that have a similar perspective and lighting. This way, you can practice creating your own illustrations.

Sharing

Post your illustrations from the drawing prompts in our group chat or in the comment section below. I am always very excited to see your results! 🤗

Happy drawing! Celyn 🌸
