Hi!! πŸ€—

In this post I will show you my sketches and base layers of prompts 1-6, together with the materials I used!

I had so much fun with these references, and especially the cinnamon and star anise illustrations dragged me out of my comfort zone!

1&2. Cinnamon & Star Anise

I decided to do 2 prompts in one, because I found a very beautiful reference. Because I thought this was a difficult reference, I first made a sketch with my sanguine pencil. Which you can see here:

Then, I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

You can follow this tutorial for how I draw cinnamon:

3. Orange slices

For the orange slices, I started with the base layer without sketching first. I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

4. Autumn Leaves

I chose to draw two different Autumn Leaves. Again, I started with the base layer without sketching first. I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

5. Apple

I loved to draw an apple! I will post a worksheet of this illustration later this week as well! For this one, I did start with a sketch using my sanguine pencil:

Then, I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

6. Sage

I started with the base layer without sketching first. I used only one colour:

For the second layer, I also used only one colour:

Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)
