Hi!! 😊

Since it has been a while since I made an updated post about all the colours I'm using in my illustrations, I thought I would make a new blogpost with a new overview of all my favourite brush pen and pencil colours!

If you are new to drawing with brush pens & pencils and want to start with a basic colour palette, I recommend you to go to this post first:

My go to materials

New colours ❤️

From left to right, here is an overview of the new colours I got the last couple of weeks:

Tombow 990 (Light Sand): This colour is almost the same as my Ecoline Pink Beige (374). I wanted to have a Tombow version as well, though this one is a little bit darker.

Tombow 933 (Orange): I am currently working on a children's book, and they wanted me to use very bright colours.

Tombow 985 (Chrome Yellow): Same reason as the orange one. I wanted to see which one is the best fit!

Tombow 020 (Peach): I wanted a lighter yellow brush pen, and this one is perfect for when I want to draw subjects like lemons or yellow flowers!

Faber-Castell 108 (Dark Cadmium Yellow): I didn't have an yellow pencil, so this one is a great addition to my colour palette!

Faber-Castell 133 (Magenta): Because I didn't have a purple pencil and also because of the children's book! I love it so much already!

Aw thanks! I love the colours so much! 😊

Nilay

I love your colour palette! I want to try some of these colors but I’m not sure if it’s better to buy them separately or as a set. Is there a set that you recommend for beginners? I’m worried that I’ll buy a set and then just use two colours from it 🫣

Celyn Art

I recommend buying them seperately! I havent found a set that has a same colour palette as I do unfortunately… and when buying them seperately you can just choose which ones you will buy now and start small! 😊 I can maybe let you know which colours I would definitely buy as a beginner?

Nilay

Thank you! That would be extremely helpful 🫶

Love the bright oranges 🍊 also, congrats on working on a children’s book! That’s awesome!

Is there a good Tom Bow to replace the Ecoline Pink Beige. I am having a hard time finding one!

Celyn Art

Tombow 990 is a bit similar to pink beige!! Although pink beige is still a bit warmer I think

Jenika Johnson

Great! I will start there and keep looking!

I personally think the Ecoline will be better as you can refill these. In this way you will be able to keep reusing it. Tom bow pens can't be refilled so those will go to waste.
