Hi!! โ„๏ธ

This was a bit of a challenge! I normally don't choose many references with snow, so I had to figure out again which was the best way. My tip is: approach the snow as white spots! This helps to simplify it ๐Ÿ˜Š

You will find my base layers and final illustrations, together with the materials I used, down below. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ

First Cottage

Because I was still figuring out how to draw snow in a good way, I first made a small sketch of the cottage with my sanguine pencil.

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 553 (Mist Purple)

As you can see, I accidentally drew trees on the right side of the roof where the snow had to be. If this happens to you, know that you can fix it with a white acrylic pen, such as Posca pens!

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

After I finished the second layer, I went over the part of the roof where the snow had to be with my Posca pen. As you can see it's not perfect, but it still saved the illustration!

Second Cottage

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)

Tombow 553 (Mist Purple)

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

I wish you all lots of fun with this week's references, and don't hesitate to show your illustrations in the group chat๐Ÿค—

So nice๐Ÿค will you also outline the trees somehow, or it will be just blank space?

Celyn Art

Just blank space in these!! But you can choose to outline the snow if youโ€™d like to ๐Ÿ˜Š
