Hi!! πŸ€—

With this week's illustrations, I tried to focus on shading and giving the illustrations more depth.

You will find my sketches, tips, base layers and final illustrations, together with the materials I used, down below. πŸ€—πŸ₯°

Candy Cane

Before starting the base layer, I made a sketch again! I used my middle cadmium red pencil and sketched the most important lines of the candy cane first.

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 772 (Dusty rose)

Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)

I used dusty rose for a base layer for the red parts of the candy cane and pink beige for shading.

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 217 (Middle Cadmium Red)

A Sakura Gelly Roll Gelpen

I used Middle Cadmium Red for the red parts of the candy cone and a bit of shading. I created more depth with Dark Indigo and some highlights with the gelpen in the end.

Gingerbread man - Gingy (From Shrek)

For this one, I also started with a sketch.

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

Tombow 603 (Periwinkle)

Tombow 451 (Sky Blue)

I forgot to make a picture of the pink beige, but I added that to the white parts to create some shading.

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 217 (Middle Cadmium Red)

A Sakura Gelly Roll Gelpen

I wish you all lots of fun with this week's references, and don't hesitate to show your illustrations in the group chatπŸ€—
