Open field cottages π³π (Step-by-step Illustrations - Week 2) (Patreon)
Content
Hi!! π€
Some cottages and nature this week!! You will find my tips, base layers and final illustrations, together with the materials I used, down below. π€π₯°
To simplify your illustrations, I have a few tips:
Don't start with a sketch, start with the base layer right away
Place your reference image further away or make the picture on your phone/iPad/computer a lot smaller, so you won't get lost in all the details
Really pay attention to the basic shapes in the illustration
Creek
I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:
Tombow 553 (Mist purple)
Ecoline 374 (Pink Beige)
Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)
Tombow 126 (Light olive)
Tombow 133 (Chartreuse, Light green)
Tombow 451 (Sky Blue)
Look from a distance where you see which colour and add pops of colour in the right places!
For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:
Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)
Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)
Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)
Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)
Faber-Castell 217 (Middle Cadmium Red)
I created the grass with lots of scribbles and tried to not be too precise! Focus on adding shading and highlights in the right places, and you get depth in your illustration very quickly!
