Hi!! ๐Ÿค—

For this week I chose some very colorful landscapes! It was a challenge to simplify them, because of all the colors and textures! This week it's important to try to focus on the overall feeling of the flower beds instead of drawing every flower precisely like in the reference.

You will find my tips, base layers and final illustrations, together with the materials I used, down below. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿฅฐ

To simplify your illustrations, I have a few tips:

Don't start with a sketch, start with the base layer right away

Place your reference image further away or make the picture on your phone/iPad/computer a lot smaller, so you won't get lost in all the details

Really pay attention to the basic shapes in the illustration

California blooming

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Tombow 133 (Chartreuse, Light green)

Tombow 451 (Sky Blue) or Tombow 491 (Glacier Blue) NEW

Tombow 553 (Mist purple)

Tombow 603 (Periwinkle)

Tombow 912 (Pale Cherry)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

Don't be too precise when drawing the flowers. It's important that the main shapes are recognizable.

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)

Faber-Castell 283 (Burnt Siena)

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 157 (Dark Indigo)

Faber-Castell 133 (Magenta) NEW
