Hi everyone!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Last month, we focused on Whimsical Landscapes. Again, I absolutely loved seeing all of your beautiful illustrations! It was such a good idea to get that springy vibe in our work last month (if I can say so myself ๐Ÿ˜‡)

Since I traveled to Portugal at the beginning of this week and I will stay here for the whole month, I thought it would be a great idea to focus on drawing Portugal. This way you can get some behind the scene insights of my creative work away experience, and we can focus on one country to draw!

So the theme for this month will be: Drawing Portugal ๐ŸŒธโœจ

Here you can find all the content I will post this month

โœจ How am I doing?

To give you a little insight into my work as an illustrator, I will share an update each month on what I've been up to in the previous month. February was a month preparing for 4 months of being a fulltime Illustrator and traveling to Portugal! ๐Ÿ˜

Illustration work updates

I moved to a coliving/coworking space in Portugal for 5 weeks ๐Ÿค—

Wow this last week has been crazy! On Monday I traveled to Portugal to go live there for the next 5 weeks and focus on my illustration work. I am staying in a coliving with all kinds of other remote workers, which is such a new thing for me to experience! I had to adjust a lot in the first few days. I felt like being on vacation with also the pressure to start working.

Things that really helped me to settle in:

Allowing myself to chill and relax the first day after I arrived. It helped me a lot to settle in and I only did a bit of work that day.

Finding a rhythm that feels like I'm being home away from home: At home I love to wake up at 7:30, having a quiet morning with some yoga and having breakfast. So I figured it would help me a lot when I did the same thing in Portugal, which really helped me settle in much quicker.

Not feeling the pressure to participate in all the activities: I live with 9 other people who all propose activities to do together. I tried to stay true to myself and just do the activities I would really like to do, without feeling guilty not to participate in others. It helps me be more mindful โ˜บ๏ธ

Making my room a bit more home: The first day I put on some music that I like and I decorated my room with my stuff.

New project: creating an online beginner course ๐Ÿคฉ

I didn't want to go on this adventure of going to Portugal and taking 3 months off from work without having a new project and goal to work on. So here's a little sneak peek of what I started working on.

For the next few week's I will create an online course for beginners to learn to draw with brush pens & pencils. It will be a course with multiple modules, like getting to know the materials, working with basic shapes and learning to create a cute illustration in the end with all the knowledge of the online course.

I will keep you all updated!! Oh and please let me know what you would like to learn in an online beginner course! โ˜บ๏ธ

Personal updates

Here are some photos from February ๐Ÿค—

Got a new haircut again

I wanted to cut my hair before going to Portugal. I went for some curtain bangs, which were a bit shorter than I expected. But now I'm totally used by them and I really like it!!

Went from very cold days to spring in Portugal

It was such a cold period of time the last few weeks. In te beginning of February I walked around in freezing weather with snow and ice and in this last week I am walking around with 19 degreed, sunglasses and summer clothes. I definitely love spring and summer more than autumn and winter haha.

Worked with someone at a cafe

The girl who I did a business photoshoot with, asked me if I wanted to do some coworking at a cafe sometime. I definitely loved working together but both on our own work. It gave me lots of inspiration! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This was the little monthly update! Thank you so much if you've managed to read all the way through, and I wish you a wonderful new month full of creativity and inspiration! ๐Ÿค—โœจ

What a fun theme! Where in Portugal are you? Iโ€™ve been to the Algarve region twice, loved it! Would love to visit other regions/cities too.
