Hi Patrons!! πŸ€—

For this week we will be doing a Portugal Fruit study. You can choose your favorite elements from the references and create a sketchbook spread. You will find my tips, base layers and final illustrations, together with the materials I used, down below πŸ€—πŸ₯°

My tips to build up your sketchbook spread:

Start with simple shapes: Lightly sketch the basic forms of the fruits first with your brush pens. Citrus fruits are great for this because they are mostly circles and ovals.

Mix different elements: Combine whole fruits, sliced fruits and a few loose leaves. This makes the spread more interesting and dynamic.

Vary the size of your drawings: Try adding one or two larger elements and balance them with a few smaller ones.

Rotate your elements slightly: Not everything needs to be straight. Turning leaves or fruits a little helps create a more natural composition.

Leave some white space: Don’t feel like you need to fill the entire page. White space helps each drawing stand out. Try to leave roughly the same amount of space between each drawing.

Lemons & Oranges

I used the following Tombow brush pens as a base layer:

Tombow 126 (Light olive)

Tombow 991 (Light Ocre)

Tombow 020 (Peach) NEW

For the second layer, I used the following Faber-Castell Pencils:

Faber-Castell 278 (Chrome Oxide Green)

Faber-Castell 188 (Sanguine)

Faber-Castell 108 (Dark Cadmium Yellow) NEW

I wish you all lots of fun with this week's reference, and don't hesitate to ask me any questions or show your illustrations in the group chat πŸ€—
