Hi everyone!! 🤗

For this month’s drawing exercise, we’ll practice drawing botanicals, like plants, leaves, and flowers, in a looser way. This exercise will help you simplify your illustrations and quickly learn what details to include and what to leave out.

And don’t forget: this exercise is all about having fun! It’s perfect for moments when you don’t feel inspired, or when you just want some relaxing drawing time without having to think too much.

You can find the reference images for this exercise in the attachments below!

1. Plants & Leaves

Choose a brush pen color for your first page. I chose light olive because it fits the overall colors of the subject.

Try to give yourself permission to create loose sketches without adding too many details. Focus only on the overall shape. It doesn’t have to look exactly like the references; they’re simply there as inspiration.

Choose a few leaves or plants and draw just the outline:

2. Flowers

Choose another brush pen color for your second page! I used light ocre because it felt like the perfect color for this page full of flowers.

Again, it doesn’t have to look exactly like the references; they’re simply there as inspiration.

Choose a few flowers and draw just the outline:

As always, I’d love to see your results! Post your sketches in our group chat or in the comments below. I can’t wait to see what you create! 🤗

Happy drawing!
