DLSS 5 in The Villain Simulator! (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone!
Thanks to the amazing work of the modding community, DLSS 5 can now be used with The Villain Simulator!
With the right configuration, it can give the game a noticeable visual upgrade, and some of the available models can produce surprisingly impressive results.
I wanted to share this with you so anyone interested can experiment with it and see what kind of results they can get. I've put together a guide below showing how to get DLSS 5 running with The Villain Simulator.
⚠️ Important Disclaimer
This is an experimental setup that relies on an unreleased/leaked NVIDIA file as well as third-party modifications created by other developers. DLSS 5 and the tools used to enable it are still under development, so unexpected bugs, crashes, visual glitches, performance issues, or other unforeseen problems may occur.
By choosing to use this mod, you understand that you are using experimental software and third-party modifications at your own risk. I cannot guarantee that it will work correctly on every system, and I cannot be held responsible for issues that may result from its use.
I recommend making a backup of your game files before proceeding.
Requirements
NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU. Modders have unlocked support for previous-generation RTX cards, but a specific modified file is required for those GPUs.
The latest version of ReShade with full add-on support.
RenoDX DLSS file.
NVIDIA's DLSS Neural Rendering file. The original file supports only RTX 50-series GPUs.
You can download ReShade from its official website.
The RenoDX DLSS file, along with NVIDIA's Neural Rendering file, can be obtained from their Discord server. They have a dedicated DLSS 5 channel where the latest files are usually pinned by the moderators.
First Steps
Install ReShade by browsing to and selecting TheVillainSimulator.exe.
Make sure to select Microsoft DirectX 10/11/12 as the rendering API. The mod will not work with the other options.
You may install additional ReShade effects if you wish, but they are not required for the mod to work.
Second Step
Copy renodx-dlss.addon64 to the game folder, the same folder where TheVillainSimulator.exe is located.
Copy nvngx_dlssnr.dll to the same game folder.
The default NVIDIA file only works with RTX 50-series GPUs.
If you have an RTX 20, 30, or 40-series GPU, use the modified version of nvngx_dlssnr.dll instead. It has the same filename.
No other NVIDIA DLSS files are required for the mod to work with The Villain Simulator.
Third Step
Launch the game and press the Home key on your keyboard to open the ReShade interface. You may skip the ReShade tutorial.
Select the RenoDX DLSS tab. This is where you can enable or disable the mod.
Set Hook Point to On Present.
Set Manually Load DLSS Libraries to On.
At this point, the mod should be working.
It offers different models and several sliders that you can adjust to your liking. Keep in mind that results and performance may vary depending on your GPU and configuration.
If the performance impact makes the game unplayable, you can simply disable the mod through ReShade or delete the files you previously copied into the game folder.
Special Thanks
A huge thank you to the modding community, especially the developers behind RenoDX and ReShade, for their work making this possible.
Without their time, effort, and willingness to experiment with new technologies, we wouldn't be able to see what DLSS 5 can do with The Villain Simulator.
Please consider supporting and thanking the modders who made these tools available.
